How should I apply this to my hair? should I leave it on overnight and rinse it out in the morning? I've never tried this before lol :)

Apply to your ends, avoiding applying directly on the scalp. Put on a plastic cap/showercap and either sleep in it or leave in for a few hours. Wash thoroughly..lightly conditioning afterward. You may want to place a towel on your pillow as a precaution.

I usually heat it up indirectly with a teaspoon of castor oil. Then I massage it in my scalp for fiver minutes and distribute it throughout my hair. Put on a plastic bag and go about my business for about five hours. As to why everyone says don't put it there... I don't know I have yet to find a credible ( you know something that ends in.org.gov or scientific factual information ) that explains why it's bad. Especially when if you massage your scalp with coconut oil it stimulates blood circulation. Improved blood circulation to your scalp will ensure that your hair follicles receive the required amount of essential nutrients and oxygen. This will make your hair follicles healthy and promote hair growth... So I have no clue what's so bad about avoiding that lol.

Personally the only reason I avoid putting coconut oil on my hair every time I do a treatment is that I don't like having to shampoo twice to get it all out haha.
Where you choose to put it might change depending on what your goals are. If you want to promote more growth, massaging warm oil on your scalp will promote blood flow etc (Kitty explained it perfectly) and if you're more focused on frizz, dryness or split ends focus on the rest of your head just to save yourself from having to shampoo twice. If you're into a scalp and dry hair treatment, just slather it all over lol.
