Majors leading me in the right direction?

I would really love to be a celebrity stylist or style photoshoots and videos etc. I know there is no education that is required for this, but I would like to get some sort of degree. I've read that there are majors like merchandise marketing and visual communications, would these lead me in the right direction?

Yes! Fashion merchandising also is helpful. Schools like FIDM are specifically known for styling and fashion design. If you want to also do makeup, you will need beauty school but that's a whole other thing.
