Ask for help or bring a friend and put little dots on your face near your neck and see which blends better. That's usually what I do, matching your hand or anything else doesn't necessarily work.

Its always best to buy a foundation that matches to the color of neck, I learned that from a wayne goss video lol very helpful though because in beauty school I was taught to match by the undertones in the skin which isnt always right

Swatch it on your jawline - try at least 3 different shades and see which one blends best with your skin tone and matches your neck and chest.
