My fiancé suffers from facial and back acne rangng from mild to quite bad, depending on the season, Worse in the summer months.
Which is a shame, as he is really very goodlooking,
He's tried everything from herbal acne treatments to drugstore scrubs and spot treatments.
he suffered very badly from bulimia throughout his teens, and with the stress of that and college he's recently been breaking out even worse than usual,
He's Danish, So his skin is quite combination anyway,
but, as he can't really wear concealer or anything, as he's male.. he's having a hard time finding ance treatments that actually work,
What I'm basically asking, Is there any herbal or natural spot treatments you guys know of?
any help appriciated. x

It will vary depending on his skin type ie: oily, combination, or dry. I have very oily skin and would get blackheads on my nose and deep pore pimples on my cheeks. Turns out I wasn't moisturizing properly, now I use Philosophy's Take a Deep Breath after washing with Neutrogena Oil Free face wash and have NO BREAKOUTS. Olive oil and sugar scrubs work wonders too as the olive oil actually balances the healthy oil in my skin.

Has he seen a dermatologist? I know you said you wanted a natural fix, but if he's tried quite a few things already, medication might be what he needs.
Having said that, I'd second the tea tree oil recommendation that Niki suggested. The Body Shop has a tea tree line, or you can just get bottles of it. I swear by the Aztec Secrets mask. I mix mine with apple cider vinegar as the directions suggest and I can feel it pulling the grossness from my face. I use it all over and as a spot treatment. Best of luck!

Yes. Tea tree oil is great for a antiseptic. Chamomile is great for redness or puffiness and green tea for redness . u can also crush Ur aspirin and mix it w baking soda and a tad bit of water. U want it as a paste and put it on Ur face over night. But for over the counter stuff...there's nothing for "severe acne". U best be is it splurge on a nice cleanser w salicylic acid, or sulfur. He needs to cleanse every day and exfoliateAbout two times a week and use a tone every day and sunscreen!

Tea tree oil is great for acne, apply it as a spot treatment. 👍

Apple cider vinegar!!! It worked for me it is amazing!

I use it as a toner in a spray bottle filled with water. I add 2 tablespoons acv and in only 3 days it is clearing up my moderate cheek acne!!!

This product is really awesome it contains 10 natural herbal ingredients including willowbark, nature's version of salicylic acid, to help clarify skin. Combined with tea tree, juniper oils, and calendula to help redness.

-Wash your pillow case every other day - Your face lays on your pillow case every day. Your pillow case absorbs the oils from your skin and reapplies the dirt and oil. Thus causing breakouts. Keep your sheets and pillow cases clean.
-Keep your hair off your face - If you have long hair or bangs, pull your hair off your face. Your hair contains oils as well, and will contribute to your breakouts. You'll also want to wash your hair everyday and after workouts

And the big thing is your skin is affected not only by whats going on outside, but whats going on in the inside. So maybe there is something in his diet that he is eating (or not eating) that is affected his skin
*Eat foods rich in zinc - Zinc is an antibacterial agent and a necessary element in the oil-producing glands of the skin. A diet low in zinc can actually cause acne breakouts.
*Eat carrots for beta-carotene (Vitamin A) - Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of the skin and actually prevents acne. It helps reduce sebum production. This vitamin is essential for the maintenance and repair of the tissue which the skin and mucous membranes are made of. Vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant needed to rid your body of toxins. A deficiency in vitamin A can actually cause acne
*Include chromium in your diet - Chromium is well known for weight loss diets. But it is also excellent for healing infections on the skin. Taking a chromium supplement once a day will help heal your pimples quickly and prevent future breakouts.
*Take a potent multi-vitamin - Acne can be a sign that something is wrong on the inside. Your skin depends on nutrition. It is a vital organ that is usually neglected. If your body is not receiving the right nutrition, it will fight back. One common way it will rebel is to produce excessive sebum, clogging pores, and reducing the ability for your skin to heal and fight bacteria

I hope this helps :)
