Hi guys! I've been a licensed hair stylist for about three years now and I love what I do. I love makeup even more though! I do have a couple of clients I do makeup on but I never was formally trained. Well, when I was in beauty school we did go over makeup application etc., but it wasn't anything new to me to be honest. I was wondering, is there a good textbook out there that will help me further my makeup education? What are the best and through ones? Thank you guys so much! xox

I have a Jemma Kidd one that has some nice looks in! But nowadays places like YouTube are great to actually watch makeup gurus in action! X

I agree with Jessica B, Kevyn's books are fantastic. Face Forward and Making Faces are great books to have.

Bobbi Brown has a pretty amazing textbook. It has everything from advice, to everything you need in a kit, to what type of makeup has what coverage, etc.

Bobbi brown is probably the best if you wanna nail down the basics if makeup artistry from A to Z. Kevin Acouin is amazing, his work is more creative though. You can Al's check out 5 mins face by carmindy. But still, Bobbi browns makeup manual would be the best to start with!

Try borrowing books from the library or go to thrift stores if they have any if you are on a budget. If not, take some makeup classes if they have one in salons or just research/youtube :)

Kevyn Aucoin books are classics and are great reference books. I also love Rae Morris books, they are really practical and I still refer to them from time-to-time. xoxo
