How to go from Black hair to Brown hair?

Hello, I don't really want to spend a lot of money at salons, so I would like to try and do it on my own. My hair was bleached before, but that was about 8 months ago. It's been black ever since then with using box color dye. I dyed it black with a box color about 6 weeks ago.

So, my question is what items will I need to achieve brown hair WITHOUT bleach IF there is a way. And the steps along with it.

Using box dye on black hair should work, except I'm not sure if it'll work as well on pre-dyed hair.

I don't think you'd need to bleach it. I usually box dye my hair & I've gone from black to a light brown before with no issues.

When your roots start coming threw just put a dark brown on and gradually work from there the black will eventually fade

I'm a hairstylist and there's no way you can go light brown without going to the salon. Color can't lift color and if you're at home and bleach your hair it will pull orange. Box dye color often has the same chemicals that they use to paint cars with. If you don't wanna spend a lot of money try a cosmetology school.
