Yesterday Kitty K. said that if you chop up tiny pieces of garlic, put it in a clear top coat nail polish, leave it in there for 7 days I think, then apply it everyday, it will make your nails hard as rock. try that :)

You have to use a STRONG moisturizer on your hands and fingers also. I would recommend coating you hands in an extremely thick layer of moisturizer like nivea and leaving it on for a while. After about an hour, run it off. For your nails, rub a cuticle oil or butter over them at least twice a day. Burst bees makes a wonderful cuticle butter. Also, invest in a nail strengthener. Essie makes a nice clear formula that strengthens your nails and helps them grow faster! Also, make sure to trim and file your nails. They are very short right now, but once they start growing it is important to keep them clean and trimmed. Good luck!

Do NOT get acrylics, they will ruin your nails even more and make them even more brittle and split more.
I'd advise the garlic idea like Lilli said, or use the strong moisturiser like Shira suggested:).
You could also try a top and base coat, like Seche Vite, OPI or Nails Inc

Are you been using detergent? washing clothes? mopping floors?? With out gloves? Or working lately with some kinda powder or something?? My hands has been like yours and even worst especially in winter season. stay away from detergents. Or if is cold where you live keep them warm. Moisturize them every you feel you deed it. At night put a heavy layer of vaseline and put on some gloves and sleep with them. There is a good silicone moisturizer its from Avon its name is moisture therapy silicone moisturizer it leaves a thin layer of silicone that protects your hands even if you wash them, you can get it online at the brand's page. 😉Take care of your hands.
