Leave hair little damp and use heat protector before flat ironing.

Don't leave your hair damp!! If you try to flat iron it and there's any water still in your hair, it will boil the water inside the shaft, and ruin your hair! Do use heat protector though, definitely. I like Tressemme Heat Tamer and John Freida Full Repair Spray.

Use a heat protector and brush your hair to get the protector all through your hair :)

Also, flat iron in layers. Start from the bottom of your hair and pull the rest up in a clip, and then let down another layer once you're finished with the first one and so on. It makes it easier and quicker if you grab smaller sections, too, because then you can straighten it with one pass instead of trying to go over a huge clump of hair, which can take a bunch of passes (which is also more exposure to heat for your hair, thereby being less healthy). Hope I helped a bit :)

Use protective spray and do it in layers :) also take your time and go down each piece slowly, but not slow enough to damage your hair. Once your done, quickly go over your whole head a second time.

Watch your temp! Sometimes rather than exercise patience and work on technique people crank up the heat for immediate results. That's insanity! Never use on damp hair. Use a great heat protectant..definitely follow Hannah's advice on layers as well. I've been practicing (for curls) and finally got the hang of it moving with relative quickness as my technique improves. I limit heat styling to once a week and use dry shampoo to extend enjoying a style. Good luck! Psst....What kind did you get?

Always use heat protectant on hair! Never use heat when hair is damp or wet please. Also if you want perfect smooth straight hair: make sure you apply a deep conditioning mask so the hair is at its best the day after. Try a GOOD straightener, I use CHI and its absolutely perfect :) put it at the highest level, put please make sure you only go over your hair once maximum twice if not its going to burn, after your done straightning use a shining serum or some silk! Hair is going to look fab!

Use a heat protecter like Tresemme Heat Defence spray and straighten your hair in 3-4 layers:)

The one mistake I did when I started straightening my hair was actually the way I let it dry if you air dry it it's fine but if you blow dry it make sure you use a brush or barrel comb to smooth out your hair as you dry it's a lot easier to flat iron this way xx
