It's really long and no matter how I have it up or down even in a bun it always gets extremely tangled and knotted and I love my long hair so much I'm not willing to loose any length but I need help.

From experience cutting hair a lot of my clients that have that problem get medium length layers and it also thins it out at the ends abit so it easier to comb, but is your hair fine?

Damaged long hair is usually always tangled. Is your hair damaged? If you don't want to cut it, then try a deep restoring conditioning that will help maintain softer, smoother, and healthier hair. What type of hair do you have? Curly, straight, fine, thick? Maybe I can help a little but more that way.

I was wondering the same as Karen. It's not uncommon for split ends and damaged hair to develop tangles from getting caught up in itself. You may want to invest in a leave in conditioner, such as "It's a 10" or a detangler spray. Bath & Body Works has some fun scented ones near the children's products. (at least they did upon my last visit)

Having experience from this situation, I went to my hairdresser and simply asked what was the best solution.She simply told me to put it in a braid at night. During day, you simply undo the braid. Using a wire brush, you brush your hair gently but thoroughly and style it the way you please. Curls are great at keeping hair from tangling if they are tight curls from using a curling wand like one from Revlon. From doing this many times, your hair will eventually sustain from being horribly tangled. Hope this helped!

My hair is on the finer side and it is damaged but it also is silky and I don't have that thick if hair and I will definitely invest in a leave in conditioner and I have a detangling spray from it's not your mothers I'll start using that more too.

I still use suave kids detangular! It works great & it's gentle cause it's for younger kids!

You can make hair treatments at home with stuff from you kitchen cabinet have a look at what you have! I've just put a mashed banana honey cucumber and lime treatment on mine and now I'm say here waiting for the magic to happen :)
