Should I be an esthetician if I want to be a makeup artist? Is it a good career choice? Or should I go to college for business?

I love make up I do , and makeup artist are brilliant! But...I'm not bashing anyone because being in the makeup industry is one of my fall backs of medical school doesn't work. But I say go for business , very few make it big in the makeup industry. If you have a love for make up take little classes here and there if you have time. But I think business would be threes best bet , that's if you like that. If not go into something you love. As someone once said , if you love your job you'll never work a day in your life (:

I've gotten my Associates in Small Business Management, and then went to school to be a managing esthetician a year later. Both have been beneficial to me because I love both aspects of business and skin care. Like the girls already said, no one can really tell you where your heart would be best, but you. I do know that you don't need to be an esthetician to be a makeup artist. I only had 2 or 3 days of makeup training my whole esthetics schooling, and I went to a very good school in my state. I do makeup applications at the Spa I work in, but the majority of my makeup skill was self taught through research, youtube, and lots of experimenting and practice. Also, a degree in business is very broad so I suggest focusing on a certain aspect that you really like such as marketing, or business admin or get specialized training so that you can find a job in that niche. If you ever have questions about either, feel free to ask me. Good luck!
