The other day I got an offer from a pretty well known company to put an ad on my blog in exchange for a gift card for me and gift cards to giveaway. I've never been offered a sponsorship before so I was very excited! But then I thought about how alot of people have a problem with it so I wasn't sure if I'd go through with it. Some of my favorite bloggers are sponsored by companys and I don't have a problem with it! They just review products they are sent(they always make it clear they got them for free) and are given stuff to give away. Only once have I come across a blogger who scammed people and begged for money and sponsors. What they did was wrong and alot of people called them out on it. I would NEVER do that because it's wrong, stupid, and I'm a very honest person. I just don't want people to be put off by the fact that I advertise for someone and think I might try to scam them! But then I thought about it and realized that IT'S MY BLOG SO I CAN DO WHATEVER I WANT!!! Just kidding!!! Haha. No, I realized you can't please everyone, if they don't like what I do they can leave, they should be grateful because they could get something too, and why not I think it would be fun and a good experience. I'm not going to make a huge amount of money.....just a small gift card. I'll also be sure to tell my readers if something I'm reviewing or showing has been gifted to me by a company. But all of that is to ask....What are YOUR views on sponsorships? Have you been sponsored before? What was your experience? Do you think people shouldn't do it? Or do you think it's ok? I'm just wondering what everyone thinks about it!

I don't mind sponserships however you shouldn't push it and it should be full disclaimed on your site.

Thank you Yasim! That's something I forgot to add in. Being pushy about something or giving it a good review just because I got it for free. And yes I am going to put a full disclaimer up too.

I don't have a problem with it, as long as the blogger/YT'er is honest about it being sponsored. The only time I have a problem with it is if it seems like they do one sponsor after another, and they ALWAYS love everything, and everything is so amazing. And nothing is worse than watching/following someone who talks about not liking something, then down the road, they end up doing a sponsor by that company, and they miraclously love the item all of a sudden. People do notice that.
Anyways lol sorry for the rant.....
Just be selective with it. And be honest. If you don't like the product, either be honest about it or just don't talk about it. Don't say you love it just because it was free.

Yea I've noticed that too. Yes! I would hate it if someone gave a good review of a terrible product then I buy it and it's trash.

There's being sponsored and being honest and then there's being sponsored and lying all the time. If you're the first one, there's no problem. If you're the second one, BYE.
*using "you're" in general sense

Full-disclosure is a MUST, but don't promote things you wouldn't use yourself for sure! I hate when ppl promote sites and make tutorials to advertise their products, but when you watch their stash videos, those items are located in the bottom drawer of their collection in the reject bin! It's a FAST way to lose loyal subbies, but I never hate when someone is able to profit from something they love enough to pour all of their hard work into!
If its something you have faith in, your followers will respect you for it. =]

There is nothing wrong with having ads on your website. You aren't forcing people to click them and hopefully you aren't over stocking your posts with them. In this economy, making money is really hard so anything extra is a big help. I would think your followers would be so happy to have a giveaway for gift cards. I know i'd enter ;P CONGRATULATIONS!

I never understood how some viewer & readers get so upset about sponserships. First off its a big deal when a company seeks YOU out to review thier product. The company wants your honest thoughts, it works both ways. You get free product , more views, readership beacuse of the product, giveaway. The company gets more customers & a review to see how real ppl like thier product. Its a win, win. I say go for it, at the end of the day its YOUR blog .
See ya!
P.S
I am a mark. rep i am intrested in supply some product to other bloggers for reviews.

This is a great thread! I've noticed a lot of people have big problems with YT gurus who get partnerships and their subs say they're "selling out", but i don't even really understand it! How do you guys feel about that?
