Hey girl, I heard peppers, hot sauce and anything "spicy" will speed up your metabolism. Also, eating small "snacks" frequently throughout the day, rather than "meals" at meal time also does the trick. You could try the chicken breast and water thing too. Just cook a chicken breast with no seasoning at all, and drink water. I hope this helps. And hunni, I am sure that you dont even need to do all that anyway...you are beautiful and a little weight can be a good thing :) I am actually on a "weight gaining diet" .. i think its healthier to have some meat on a person.. whatever you do, dont think that you have to look like a little stick-figure to be beautiful! :) I wish you the best darlin!

Just cut down on junk foods and fast foods, I know when I was a teen and overweight those were the main causes, and try to increase physical activity to 30-60 minutes a day. Just banishing fast foods and replacing my meals with fruits, veggies, lean chicen and fish as well as switching to whole grain really helped me lose 30. Also, cutting soda out of my diet completely really helps. Also, its okay to eat things that are bad for you once in a while, having moderation is the key to staying fit and healthy. hope this helps and good luck were here to support you =]

Ok, chika. If you really want to lose weight(and keep it off) you're going to have to change your lifestyle. Just cutting out junk food isn't going to do much, especially later on when your metabolism starts to slow due to age. Water. Water is amazing for you. Not just your body, but your skin. It helps tone muscle, hydrates your body, and can help boost metabolism, as well as keeping you full! 8 glasses a day is recommended, which is difficult at first, but trust me, it's worth it. Drinking water half an hour before meals is good for digestion.

Adding exercise is really good as well. Cardio after breakfast is a great way to start the day, gives you plenty of energy and makes you feel great! Doing it before eating is bad because that doesn't really burn off any fat, instead it'll burn any muscle you develop because you don't have anything in your stomach. Don't forget about building muscle as well! Weight lifting isn't for everyone, but it helps burn fat.

If you have a smart phone, there are plenty of calorie-counting apps that you can download. My fave is Eat Burn Learn. And it's free! You just punch in the calories of the food you eat, and punching in the amount of calories you burn, and it'll all add up at the end of the day to input if you met your goal or not. Simple pimple.

Adding a better diet and exercise will do more good for you than just helping you lose weight. Your hair, skin, and nails will be healthier. They don't say 'you are what you eat' for nothing!

If you still need a little extra help, there is this product called OxyElitePro. It burns fat and is pretty pricey at $60 on BodyBuilding.com. I've taken it myself, and though it makes you jittery as all hell, it does work.

I hope this helps! I'm not a trainer or anything, but I've done my research. ;) You can do it, alright! Just keep motivated with music or whatever!

I agree with Shyla about you needing to make a lifestyle change and if you can afford hiring a personal trainer that KNOWS what he or she is doing can be a great resource to living a healthy lifestyle! I learned so much from my trainer and he has grown to be one of my close friends!

Also there are so many different ways to get in shape now that you can find something that you will like for instance- zumba, spinning, yoga, hip hop dancing, crossfit, etc. try any and all because gym classes are usually free with your membership! I really like crossfit, its high intensity so it burns fat while toning your muscles! You just have to see what you like and try!

Whenever I want to loose weight and keep it off I eat 6 little meals a day (and i dont mean a hamburger and fries every meal) to keep my metabolism going all day. This way you eat smaller portions and you also train yourself to not eat as much even though it feels like your eating all the time. I eat a lot of Fruits and yogurt and cheese to help keep my blood sugar stable. So I normally eat a healthy breakfast (so important!) then ill have some fruit eat lunch then yogurt or pretzels then dinner and right b4 bed cheese and crackers. It has worked for me :) and of course exercise! you still want to be healthy!

Cut out soda and all sugary drinks! Stick to water for a few weeks and the small difference of drinking nothing but water is a huge difference!

Well, it isn't going to come off over night... or in a month... in fact it will probably take upwards of 6 months to get off 40 if you work at it. Losing weight is a long process that requires a lot of dedication and a lifestyle change. You don't have to have a fancy gym membership or a dietician to lose weight (although they do help in pointing you on the right path) because it really does all come down to you and the decisions you will make, so keep your chin up even if you have a bad week or whatever... just keep going. :)

First of all you'll need to change what you put in your body. I don't like using the word "diet" because it just sounds scary and intimidating, but you will need to change your eating habits.

Your body needs water... and lots of it. You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water each day (example: if you're 180 lbs you'll need to drink 90 fluid oz of water each day) to flush out toxins and keep your body hydrated and running. If you find yourself needing to pee 30 minutes after drinking, slow down because your body is being overwhelmed and it's just passing right through you.

Secondly starches (such as sugary sweets and starches like grains, potatoes, etc) should only be eaten in moderation since excess starches are stored in the body and turned to fat for energy storage. The average American eats WAY too many starches in one day because the US food pyramid lists grains as the staple food group (which is FALSE and only added in there because the nation produces a lot of grains)! Too much grain will make you pack on the pounds so keep your servings of grains to about 1-2 a day.

Leafy greens and most vegetables (as long as they're not starchy ones such as carrots, peas, etc) will be your best friend when it comes to losing weight since they're chock full of vitamins, nutrients, and fiber (which is what your body needs). Salads are kinda boring so finding ways of preparing veggies will definitely help you. You should be eating as many vegetables as you can and not going under 5 servings a day.
Fruits have vitamins, nutrients, and fiber as well but they also contain sugar (although it's the good kind) so a little moderation is needed with fruits. 3-5 servings a day will probably keep the sweet tooth at bay and really help with getting your digestive system on the right track.

Another important food group you should be eating on a regular basis is protein. Lean protein is the best (fish, poultry, low fat mozzerella, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, 1 oz of nuts, etc). Protein will keep you full, fuels your body, and helps repair your muscles.

I know that snacking seems a bit couter-intuitive, but your body needs little meals every 3-5 hours to keep it running and to keep your metabolism up. So you can still eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and have a snack in between them and still lose weight. :) You just have to be conscious about portion size.

Oh, one last thing about food: the 2,000 calorie diet is designed for men. Women should be eating about 1,500 to 1,700 a day to MAINTAIN their weight. It's pretty much up to you when it comes to how many calories you should eat, but it's a safe bet to drop about 300 from your normal daily intake (in which you shouldn't count the non-starchy greens as calories).

Another really important part of losing weight is exercise. You can lose weight without it, but it will take longer and it is more beneficial to exercise in tandem to changing what you eat or else you'll end up being thinner but not exactly toned.
The whole myth about women not being able to lift weights because they'll bulk up is a crock or crap. Go crazy in the weights room... seriously. Building up your lean muscle mass is probably the best thing you can do during weight loss aside from eating healthier. By building more muscle your body burns more calories in it's resting state so the more muscle you have the better metabolism you have and you become a calorie burning machine. :) So go hit up the weights! Build your muscle (low number of reps with heavy weights) and then when you've gotten to a place that you think is good start to tone it all up (high number of reps with lighter weights). give yourself a day or two in between weight training to allow your body to heal so you don't injure yourself and rotate what you work on each time you go to decrease the chance of injuring yourself as well.

Cardio is also a much needed element in your workouts since it pushes your body burn up all the energy you just gave it and start burning your stored energy, a.k.a. fat. Doing 30 minutes of cardio 3-5 times a week (especially before weight training) will really help you get back into shape. :)
I
don't think I left anything out... I hope that helped. :) I basically regurgitated all that I learned from my dietician. :) I did basically that and I dropped from 164 to 126 in about 8 months (although I'll admit that I didn't follow it 100% of the time so it should have taken fewer months). Just remember to give yourself time. You're not going to see instant results, but you should start really noticing in a month.

Be strong, girl! You can do it!
