My hair is thick and curly and I'm going to Elkhart to day and I don't wanna look to fancy but I also don't wanna go there looking like a freak what should I do with my hair.

I think you should do the hairstyle in you dp, honestly. straighten, messy braid, spray, spray, spray! I don't know, I tried my best advice because I have no experience with curly hair.I guess just try it out? I'm sorry if the advice sucks XD.
