Riveting reds and color filler.

So every time I wash my hair the dye pours out. My friend who goes to school for Cosmo. Said the white blonde hair mite not be holding dye cuz there's no pigment for it to hold to. her teacher said to get color filler then dye my hair again. And use this thing by ion that helps the color stay longer. She also said to use riveting reds. So the color lasts longer. Has anyone used color filler or riveting reds or anything to keep color longer. What your thoughts on them do they work?

Riveting reds NEVER worked for my hair. Ever. It did however do a wonderful job of drying my hair out.

What I would suggest is re-dying your hair and get extra dye. Mix the extra dye into a color shampoo like Joico K-Pak (that's what I use) and use it every other day to refresh your color

Hi Dani,

Using a color filler is great if you do two processes (ie bleaching followed by dye) - but it also does not hurt to try on virgin hair either. Using a lower volume developer like a 10vol and dying your hair twice will help to lock it in better but unfortunately reds are in general hard to maintain.

You can also do what Shelby recommends and put a bit of color in your shampoo or use a color depositing shampoo within your hair range.

Lastly, using a glaze such as Redken Shades EQ Equalizing Conditioning Color Gloss Red Kicker help to not only give your hair a boost in color but are very conditioning and adds shine as well.

Bottom half of my hair from my ears and down was white blonde a few months ago. But the color won't stay. It stays where it was orange black etc. my friend said to not retouch up my hair till I get color filler. Then put the color filler on then dye it while the color filler is still in my hair. Yeah - probably best since if it was white blonde I am assuming you bleached it. She sounds like a pretty knowledgeable colorist! Let us know how it turns out!  xo.

Try tressa watercolors. its a shampoo that puts pigment into the hair to help color last.

You definitely need to color correct.. as much as you have probably been told to get red hair you need to bleach it's not 100 percent correct! white blonde hair won't hold red as like your friend said there is no pigment for the color to grab :) so definitely use a color filler!

for future you only need to lighten your hair :) a light brown or even the horrible orange yellow color you get from bleaching is good enough to get a bright red, protein fillers in your hair are great use after bleaching and before apply any color as your color will grab more.

other then that use a color depositing shampoo! because even after all that your red will still fade fast :) I'm not sure if they sell it in the states but I use delerenzo cherry red shampoo it is amazing! my condition is mixing with a semi permanent red aswell I was my hair once a week twice only if I really have too! and dry shampoo in between :) my color is never faded and I just retouch my roots once a month.
