So I dye my hair black, and everything looks great the first week, but then it turns to a reddish orange weird shade and I have to re-dye it. I use ion brand hair dye, and I have used other brands and it always seems to happen the same! what can I do to prevent this? any tips or brands? Thank you <3.

That's very strange! I've used many black hair dyes and that's never happened. The most is a reddish-brown tint after a couple months. What do you wash your hair with and how often? Do you swim in a chlorinated pool often?

What is your natural hair colour? What type of shampoo are you using, some shampoos can strip the color, also do not wash for 2 days after dyeing, it can cause it to fade much faster, you may need to get your hair professionally coloured, I know for me my hair will not hold dye unless its from a salon, and even then my roots don't really hold the colour as well as the rest of my hair.

Thanks for your answers, my natural hair color is a very dark brown with reddish undertones to it, I use loreal shampoo from my salon. I don't swim often but I'm thinkin it may be the water where I live from. I've never used blue black before, ill give it a try.
