I use olive oil masks. I have the same problem and if I use these masks it feels supersoft.

I had the same problem and I found that using products without all the bad ingredients made a huge difference. Use a cleansing conditioner instead of a shampoo if it's really dry. I recommend the curl junkie daily fix. And try to find a good leave-in conditioner (I use Kinky Curly Knot Today which is also a good detangler) Anything without silicones or sulfates are best (like dimethicones, sodium lauryl sulfate etc.)

I use L'Oreal EverCurl shampoo and conditioner. As for products I recommend One&Only curling creme and mousse. Also don't use a towel to dry your hair, use an old T-shirt. Make sure most of the moisture is gone from your hair before you apply the product. Here's my secret tip so shh don't tell anyone ;)...once you have all the product in your hair don't scrunch with your bare hands, instead take another old T-shirt place it over your hand and scrunch with that between your hair and your hand. This will help remove any left over water in your hair that will take all the product you've added once it begins to evaporate. Hope this all made sense :)
