Instead of buying makeup dirt.. what are your thoughts on using the actual soil that is on the shoot.. sieving it, grinding it up using a mortar and pestle, mixing with 99% alchohol and letting it dry out.. .. would that me hygeinic enough to use on an actors hands and face? Or any other ideas.. budget is low and the soil is a colour i´ve not seen on the commercial dirt makeups!

Crush up Oreos to make soil. That way, if it gets in the actor's mouth, it's an enjoyable experience. I learned this when I saw gummy worm candies being packaged in "dirt" cups made of crushed up Oreo cookies. Hope this helps! =]

Yum! Thanks.. doubt there would be any left for the actor though! Haha! Great idea for Halloween too!
