When I first started getting into makeup, besides just black covergirl eyeshadow and eyeliner, my mom started buying me some more higher end makeup. (This whole makeup addiction started that way, Thanks Mom! ;D)
My very FIRST UD PRODUCT EVER was this Wallpaper Palette, which I haven't even seen available in YEARS! At the time I thought the colors were 'meh', since I was still kind of stuck in a strictly black phase (oh those lovely teenage years). But I immediately was entranced by Asphyxia! Today, Grind is completely used up, and I've hit pan on Midnight Cowboy and Asphyxia.
Next is the Sephora Colorful Artist palette. This one sat around for a long time, until I started to branch out into more colors. The burgundy in it is absolutely gorgeous! I loved the range of colors this had, and it had shimmer, glitter, and a few matte colors! Today, Universal Beige 08 is completely used up, and I've hit pan on Burgundy, Deep Purple, and Fame and Fortune 43.
Next is the Kat Von D Metal Orchestra palette. I remember being SO EXCITED when I learned she was coming out with her own makeup line, I was super into her tv shows and stuff. (I've since realized there are much cooler people that her, kind of over her, especially once her shows became more drama and less tattoo!) Anyways, I got this palette and was so excited. This is one of the old ones, when they came in rubberized packaging with those terrible brushes! I loved the dark colors and the blues! Everyone knows her cream eyeshadows are terrible, and while the silver that was in this was gorgeous, it was completely unusable. Today, Slayer (cream color) has been removed and tossed, and I've hit pan on Lucifer!
What was one of your very first high end products?

I think first I got a Sephora brand palette and I loved it so I become obsessed with brands at Sephora. I then got the Urban Decay primer potion which eventually lead me to get my Urban Decay Vice palette which is my ultimate favourite palette ever!! I also love lipsticks from Clinique. I personally tend to buy more drugstore products because they're cheaper and I really don't see a huge difference compared to high end. I really want to get a Kat Von D palette, they look amazing.

I used Clinique and Estée Lauder mascara and shadows in my tee. Years. I've pretty much been addicted to Mac studio fix and pigments. Not a huge fan of their mascara but love their lips sticks and glasses, glitters and blushes. But I'd say OPI for nails and joico/Matrix hair products have always been staples since my mom is a cosmetologist.

If I'm remembering correctly it was Lancome eyeshadow in a sparkly grey shade called "Constellation." I was gothy (still am at heart really lol) in high school and I wanted black eyeshadow so my aunt took me out and got me that so I could wear something dark without my mom losing it completely lol. And then my first palette was the Urban Decay sustainable shadow box, which I still have and use.

Ugh I totally understand what you mean about KVD's cream eyeshadows. They are awful!! I have the purple true romance palette and there was one in it that is completely dried up. And even when it wasn't it was hard to use. I hope she decides to get rid of them and just put another powder eyeshadow in the palettes.

Think mine was benefit you rebel light. It's weird I remember buying cheaper brands and thinking why would anyone pay £20 for foundation or mascara. Needless to say as I've gotten older I don't consider it to be too expensive anymore. I love my Clinique even better foundation, MAC mineralise skin finish and mineralise concealer. Some things are just better :D ahh it would be great if I was loaded...so much makeup I want.

The first high end product I purchased like 20 years ago was Mary Kay..does that count? otherwise it be my UD Naked pallet I purchased last year for my b-day. (I'm 41). Always thought high end make up was a waste. Why would I pay $16 for one eye shadow when I can get 4 colors of drugstore eyeshadows for $4? Once I got my Naked pallet I could see why!! Such a difference in pigmentation and staying power. I had been missing out all along...lol.
