Have you notice that everything or everyone looks like clones when it comes to what's in with makeup lately? It's the same looks over and over again. What I mean by same looks is everyone goes by the same rule of thumb from what ever was read or watched ( I assume) but here is a thought look through all the videos or pictures and see if you can notice difference with anything or is it all the same.Just give a look and share your thoughts. As soon as you do that you'll notice your thoughts running through your mind and creativity kicks in ;-) try it.

What I can follow is a how to, for example I won't get a cat liner easily. I don't follow trends, or season trends. I like what shows my personality and my personal style and of course if it looks good to me.

I like what you said Jacqueline and maybe I should have been more clearer with what I was trying to say I completely understood what you were saying and I understand as an artist but as a general person putting myself in that place of learning or trying to understand makeup I could only imagine it's over whelming and all the wonders of do you have to always do that look?or do I always need all this stuff? Questions I could imagine a person would ask or have asked many times and many get miss informed. As you know we have answered a lot here on Beautylish,I just want everyone to give themselves a chance to explore but really explore.I'm not sure if you understand what I'm saying lol your better at explaining then myself :-) It's like everyone gets to worried or scared to try so everything ends up looking the same.

I was just thinking how we always give advice but unless we have a video or tons of makeup shadow pictures we tend to get over looked as artist and people follow the ideal look of popular media lol and to be honest I can only take so much of highlighter and contour over kill lol.

Lol I'm a little off today to Jacqueline hence the rant about makeup :-) I was just thinking how faces look the same lately everywhere and the kicker was seeing a girl at a store with brown stripes down the sides of her nose I assume she was trying to contour  :-\

I agree I feel like the cosmetic industry has boomed in the last couple of years.I can't believe how everything from $1.00 lashes that are now $20.00 have went up insanely.Mac always have new so called It! Looks but all they do is rename the products lol they always discontinue a color but it comes back a year later with a different name I've notice that since the late 90's I caught on to that.I love doing what I like and even if it's not the so called norm or trend I'm ok with it but I swear I'm on edge Every time I get asked to do makeup it's always The Kim K look lol now I know what hair stylist must have felt in the 90s when asked to get the Rachel cut haha.

The highlighter/bronzer thing is over kill on YouTube, or any pics, pictures. I get that it is helpful. TBH I have only seen once face chart of good highlighter/bronzer application that I can concur with. Not that my opinion is bible...but...I feel many tutorials don't help ppl bc ppl are showing others how to contour their own face...not a face...it helps to take yourself out of the equation as much as possible in a tutorial, by not using the word "I" but I know some viewers disagree with my logic on that. "Contour under your cheekbone" is helpful...or "How to find your cheekbone" once these words get used more...the confusion will end..

and yes...we don't need a ton of stuff. I have been critiqued lately on my lack of hauls...but I don't have credit cards. I live within my means. and yes...we don't need so much any MUA will tell you that.

Lol Banana faces everywhere I know it's frustrating.I like that grace did mention a great point about the tutorial out spread on people not branched out on other faces then their own and I know we must always do what's wanted but if I could put a Potato sack on someone with a crystal dangling and call it glamorous scarecrow I would :-D but that's just me.

I may be booed for saying this but trends really help me in the way of spring my creativity when I hit a slump. I like to reinvent myself from time to time and sometimes I will take a trend that I like and take it somewhere else.

@Raquel it's ok to try things new just make sure it's for you and you like it.I think a lot of people tend to over do what they already have with their beauty sometimes I see over kill with beautiful face's lol we become 80's Max headroom with sharp chiseled faces.

I live in a Podunk country town so I don't see a lot of those things most women go natural or bare faced around here. I get looks when I were my pretty boy OCC lip tar.

Here in the south I see more and more of the trends of today when it comes to make up. I get it, I do. I'm attracted to "daring" "different" "dark" looks. In my look I go for moments of "bold" and that's more in eyeshadow...and I feel its too trendy and not very creative. Not to mention I suck at shadow shaping. Lol. That's when I'll blend the crap out of it. I just know what I know. Do I make sence with this feed? Is my makeup my own twist or am I apart of the trend?

Jun 7, 2013

Alma M.

Thanks Tara for your kind words :-) @Kristin I think your pictures are great the application is just right for you, the colors are fitting and where you have the Darkest color of shadow is just right and brings out your eyes.I don't think you need to ad more good job  :-)

Alma- I'm glad I'm glad I'm glaaad to hear those kind words Alma!! I'm going to work on my shaping tho. Thanks Alma. :)

Lol your welcome Kristin, so in shaping are you saying it about eye shadow? If so maybe this might help can you draw? Or draw eyes on a Piece of paper and make the lids ok after your done pic one of your eye shadows now place the color on the lid then grab another brush and fade just look at it practice fading. once you keep doing that and get the hang of it you'll be able to apply it to yourself.

Jun 7, 2013

Kristin S.

I am talking about shadow. I'm more into trying more of a color stacking with the shape of my eye. I think drawing may help me along with practicing.
