Base coat for strengthening color?

Ok, so, I have this nail polish that is supposed to be strengthening for my nails. It stains them like crazy, but if i put a regular base coat underneath, will it still strengthen my nails like its supposed to?

It probably won't help strengthen your nails because the base coat will act like a barrier between the two. If your nails are really that brittle, I'd suggest using the strengthener and just using lemon juice to remove the staining afterwards. Hope this helps :)

About a year ago my nails would rip alot and I couldn't figure out why. But then I thought about what I was doing different lately then it came to me... I was painting my nails alot more often and useing nail polish remover. I stopped painting my nails for awhile and now they hardly ever rip! Maybe you should just let them be bare for awhile...
