anyway, one more try.
ladies, how much is too much makeup?.. so you have 5 lippies that dupe each other. do you need all those?. do you give them away or let them rot until you have no choice but to toss them?. open dialogue... let me know your thoughts.

I guess I'm a bit of a make up collector, so I don't think it's ever to much :) I think I have like 25 different black mascaras, 100 eyeshadows and so on!
I try to not get to much in the same colors but it's hard ;)

Hmm if you have five dupes all similar then you need to go to a meeting lol. Only got one set of lips. Try buying different shades if you are buying make up. As Hollie said I don't understand girls wearing several mascaras, just get one good one, make no sense...waste of money

You can NEVER have enough make-up in a collection! Especially if you're an artist. personally, I like to try everything I can so I can have my own opinion on it.

I agree that there's a point when it becomes ridiculous. I think it's totally fine to have lots of eye shadow or lipstick/gloss to add variety, but I don't understand having a tone of mascara, eyeliner of the same color, foundation, blush, ect. and quite honestly, I can't afford it o.o.

Hollie it's not like I wear more then one mascara at a time... I just have different types because they do different things to my lashes... I have one that makes them very long, one that gives volume, one for my bottom lashes and so one!

No I'm not saying it makes you a bad person or something, it's all preference and that's just my opinion :)

I was commenting on Hollie who asked if wearing several mascaras at the same time would make lashes look thick.

I'm pretty good when it comes to makeup with the exception if eye pallettes. Idk why I love the way they're packaged so much and I like having colors in order like that. But probably colors I have in one pallete are the same as another but idc lol I just like having it.
I have an issue with nail polish, I own over 100 and I legit don't know why, I just love them lol

In my opinion, there's no such thing is at too much. So what if you own ten of the same red lippies or fifteen mascaras? As long as your priorities are in check (bills paid and such) there's not really a line of how much makeup you can/should own. I personally have a couple dupes, and have a lot of SIMILAR shades. When it comes to wearing makeup, in my opinion you can't really wear too much as long as it's done tastefully. One night I wore FOUR yes FOUR sets of false lashes because I wanted a huge dramatic look. I had dark smokey eyes, and I concealed the lashbands very well therefore it looked tasteful and not "tacky" or "amateur." Of course, these are all just my personal opinions.

Mascara needs to be tossed every 3 months but no one does it.

I think hollie is referring to ppl saying they were a few different mascaras at the same time..
Antonia raises a good point. creativity.. yes you wore four pairs of eyelashes but its all about how it looks in the end. you have to feel free to mix n play around and break the "rules".. kudos..
in addition Melanie raises a good point. mascara should b thrown out after 3-6 months.. are you gals throwing stuff away on schedule.?.
I personally get rid of eye makeup (mascara and liner) on schedule.. but I'm not throwing away a lipstick n 2yrs. I play those by ear. it depends on if they are degrading..
thoughts on throwing stuff away?.

@Raquel. that's a good point.
@Diana, who are you referring to?.

Personally, as long as my addiction doesn't require its own room with storage components then I'm ok. My financial committments come first (mortgage, insurance, retirement savings) so anything that is left over is mine to do whatever. Any surplus that I have no use for or dupes (all usually free product) I give away to my local domestic violence where I volunteer). It really gets under my skin when others judge another for having too much makeup (in their opinion)...or having too much of anything for that matter. Its no different from people who collect Barbie dolls. Its not hurting anyone. For myself I have to draw the line when I can't remember what I have and been known for buying duplicates of one item. Right now my weakness has been lippies and I need not buy anymore...at least for awhile.lol.

I say what the hell, it's your money do what you want with it, now if you're going hungry or trying to read by candle light cuz of no electric... Then maybe you should change your priorities. Lol... Anyway you get what I'm trying to say! Your life, your money!

I think how much makeup you have is a personal choice and if your someone that considers themselves a collector then you can never have too much. I have a reasonable amount but believe me if I didn't have my 3 children and they're future to save for it would be a lot more, so no judgement from me.

Lol @lippies n no lights. that's definitely a prob.

Oh man I'm one of those multiple mascara offenders lol. I always use my covergirl clear mascara before I curl. then today I applied rimmel royal eyes mascara and used benefits they're real on my tips and bottom lashes. they're real is too thick to use on my entire lash but I love the length it gives me. I think everyone buys what they buy and does their makeup a certain way for a reason. it may or may not be a good one but like I always say, who cares how the cake was baked as long as it tastes good :)

You must of have read my mind as I was going to post this to.
I personally don't know. I mean, how much is to much is to each their own. I personally feel like I'm going to hit that limit before the year is out as I've gotten a lot of makeup in this last year alone. There will always be new things I want yes, but I'm about to start buying in moderation. Maybe two or three things a month, if that.

I use 2-3 mascaras most days, given that I'm not wearing falsies. One mascara gives length, the other volume. Of course I'm going to use them both :)

When it comes to price point I don't object if it offers qualities worthy of its price. Though I did get ticked off by one lipstick. After tax it came out to $43 and some change. Beautiful leather case. Shade was sweet as well. It was suppose to be a long-wear formula and super opaque. It was all gravy for the first hour. After that I was having to re-apply ever other hour because the color would fade. That was before food and drink came my way. By the ens of the day I was so ticked off I told my husband he needed to take it back asap. After that experience I told myself never again will I pay for any lippie over $25. If I don't get it for free my wallet is staying closed.lol.

I have more lipsticks than I need and I will still buy more its what I like and I feel you work for it you buy it if you want to I don't buy a lot of mascaras cause they dry out before I get to use them all but I do have a lot of makeup and I love it my bills are paid and I feel like if I want 20 pink lipsticks then imma buy them
