I heard that prenatal vitamins can be crushed up && put into shampoo or conditioner but exactly how much do you crush up && put into it? I never really figured that much out..

I heard it was the birth control pills, not sure though, do a little more research you don't want your hair falling out

Prenatals aren't birth control they are vitamins made for women while they are pregnant, so all the nutrients you need are in then therefor help hair growth, dive right in! I've always wanted to try this.

It does not work at all because your hair won't absorb it since it consists of dead cells.

I agree with Amanda. but if your not pregnant I think it makes no sense. Then its just a waste of what their meant for.

They are just vitamins. take them orally everyday in place of your multi vitamin. there is no way they can hurt you... you can buy them at any store. and the store brand is just as good as brand named.

Thanks. I haven't bought any yet because I wasn't sure && I didn't want to go && waste money on something that may not work. I'll do a little bit more research on it though.

You will have better results just taking them orally. I experienced first hand how well they work while I was prego and a year later I still take them everyday just for my hair & nails. All they really are is a beefed up multi-vitamin. There's no harm to them, but tons of health & beauty benefits.

This is a topic that is really starting to get on my nerves. Your hair is dead, putting crushed up vitamins, birth control(really what in the absolute fuck is putting birth control on your hair suppose to do? Prevent your hair from giving birth?), or anything else of the such is not going to make your hair grow. They make medicated SCALP treatments for hair growth because those medications are made to be absorbed through the skin and they are only good for if you have a condition which is affecting your hair's natural growth. Dietary supplements are meant to be taken orally and they only help if you are missing something in your diet causing your hair to grow slower. So instead of wasting your money by crushing them and putting them in your shampoo, which will do absolutely nothing, try taking them orally and if your hair does happen to grow faster, it is because you were not getting all your nutritional needs through regular diet.

You want your hair to grow? Get reguoar haircuts, maintain a healthy diet, and invest in some good salon quality hair care products.

You can get prenatals from walmart. I take the similac ones. & yeah, they're just as good as prescription ones. Also, it's not a waste. They're good for you & do help with hair & nails. You could take them basically your whole life. My source is my doctor. I just had my son two months ago so I know about prenatal vitamins.

Also, they're definitely not $40. Don't waste money.

@ alessia my best friend had told me about it and I looked it up online but I don't remember the name of the website I saw it on, @ Lili I just had my son 4 months ago and 2 months after I decided to stop taking my prenatal pills and like a little more than 1 week after my hair started falling like crazy it was all bad so I'm on my prenatal pills again it does help and at the store the natures made ones are like $15 and it you don't want those cuz the pills are huge and hard to swallow their are some gummy prenatal vitamins.

Birth control pills are NOT going to make your hair grow and especially if you crush them and put them in shampoo. They are hormones you take orally to keep you from getting pregnant, they do not make your hair grow. If thay was the case my hair should be down to my ass because I've been on hormonal birth control for the last five years almost.

Then I guess it works for some and for others it don't that could just be it, its like everything else

Thank you very much amanda, so it dosent mater that it has been 4 months already since I gave birth? Its not to late for my hair to fall out?

All I was saying is that she can get prenatals that do the same thing for cheaper. so she doesn't HAVE to spend that much. but if she wants to spend a little more to go all natural, then by all means do it. Wasn't trying to offend you.

I just tried this tonight and used half a bottle of Herbal Essence and 10 prenatal vitamins. I first crushed them in a ziplock bag with a hammer added some water and poured it into the bottle. My hair feels a lot softer and I think it works. It may not grow my hair quickly but it does help with controlling the damage. I think the bottle should last me a month so I am excited to see what happens. I am also taking one vitamin orally per day.

Your hair is not dead, contrary to what some have posted. Your hair grows from the root, not the ends. If your follicles were dead, then hair dye, shampoo, conditioner, etc. would not absorb into the hair. Shampoo serves one purpose: to clean your scalp and hair. Conditioner give your hair necessary nutrients to be healthy and to grow. People saying your hair is dead are absurd as the comment itself. While prenatal vitamins are meant to be taken orally to absorb the nutrients into your bloodstream, I really don't see the harm in crushing some up to give your shampoo or conditioner a boost. Shampooing your hair opens up the pores and follicles so nutrients can get in, so the conditioner is where I would put it. I myself have tried a lemon juice and olive oil treatment for dandruff and it worked like a charm.s.
