Why do kids wear so much makeup?

Oh and people have been saying that I'll look like 50 by the time I'm 20 for years now but I'm almost 17 and wear a full face of makeup almost everyday and most people say I have the best looking skin out of anyone they know so makeup really doesn't determine how old you'll look by the time you're 20.

It's actually a myth that makeup ages your skin. The only way it ages your skin is if you don't remove it and it clogs your pores. It's all just about taking good care of your skin.

When I was in sixth grade I didnt give two shizts about how I looked... why are girls rushing so fast?? Theirs a time and place for everything! I personally think 14 is the right age to wear makeup.. and not even foundation... mascara, lip gloss, and maybe blush. STOP GROWING UP SO FAST!!

Well, first off it's because girls are insecure. And with more and more pressure to be popular, there's more pressure to be "pretty".

Secondly, they want to be taken seriously! The fact of the matter is, adults don't take kids seriously. And they're at that age where they are starting to mature more, and they want to be seen as adults. So they wear makeup because it makes them feel older.

I also want to point out that kids ARE maturing faster these days. And that while they are still kids, maybe if adults started being more open minded about the fact that kids can be right sometimes, less people would feel the need to look and act older.

I didny start wearing full face until 10th grade... you have to be mature enough too in my opinion. If you're young wearin all that makeup and your momma still gives you baths, you have temper tantrums.. then you know... now a days it's hard to differentiate between the kids and grown ups.

I started covering up my acne with little bits of my moms foundation in sixth grade. That was because I didn't like the red on my face. I started wearing eye makeup in seventh after my mom said I could. After that I've been into makeup ever since. I'm now in high school and I LOVE makeup! Every day I switch up my look and do something different. I express myself through makeup, it makes me confident too. (: As an artist myself, I think it's super fun to make up my face, it's like painting! I don't think anything is wrong with it. (:

I think it gives them confidence around boys and a I'm-grown-up now facade for their friends. for most its just a phase.

@Gen C. I am relaxed? And that comment wasn't really directed towards you. I was agreeing with the comments earlier in this thread.

I'm 14 & I only wear makeup 2 special events! People tell me I have a nice face so I'm afraid that if I start I will look ugly without it Soo I'm sticking to NOOO makeup.

I'm 14 but I only wear eyeliner and mascara. I find that foundation makes me break out :/

I didn't start wearing full face makeup till I was about 18, but that's only because I have terrible acne and acne scars...if I didn't I probably would have never started wearing so much makeup in the first place.

I don't see a problem with it ~just my opinion~ long as it looks good why not?

Well I'm 13 and I think it's common to wear makeup, but of course there are different levels of it. Personally I don't think there's a problem with say coming to school with a bit of eyeliner and concealer, etc. the only time I think people can moan about it is when people are plastering it on as an everyday look, not an occasion. It's fine to experiment a little at our age, and to add a few touches to make us look nicer or more interesting.

Aimee N. I agree.

Omg this such a stupid post once again. who are you to say its wrong or right? Not all girls do it for male attention no offense but that just stupid to say. Lots do it because they are insecure with themselves or think its the way it's suppose to be due to this messed up society and social media making people think in order to be beautiful you have to be like all those flawless people in magazines or movies. Some do it because that the way there were they were raised ( such as my situation ) and your right some do it for attention but who cares it's not your child not your problem so people need to stop complaining lol sorry not trying to be rude this is just old:)

I completely agree with Tori. I will worry about this when I have a daughter.
