How young is too young for makeup?

I started wearing makeup when I was around 12 because I was really self conscious of my acne. Many girls at my secondary school wore makeup as soon as they arrived in year 7 (at 11 years old). I think around 13 is a good age to start experimenting though. Looking back at some of the hideous makeup I used to wear, I'm glad I've had that time to learn what works for me and what does not (I tried a purple smokey eye for the first time and people at school thought I had been beaten up!) 😂

Not really because think if you have a older sister and she wears make up so would the little sisters , most little sisters look up there olders and are normally keen to be like them and they start to wear make up at a young age to be like there older idols , I put make up on my little cousin when she was 10 and ever since that one day she wears face full of make up and now she's 14 she's pretty with and without it but she does her make up better then some 18 year olds... I think if you wanna wear it at any age go for it , it's there life and its what they feel comfortable in , because wearing make up isn't a crime and if you wanna wear it young then go for it! X.

I startd wearing mkeup whn I ws 14..that too lipgloss, kohl and eyeliner...from 16 I wear eye shadows little bit and contour my face as it is little fluffy...

My cousin is just 5 year old...and she follow us a lot...my God that little girl puts kohl and lipgloss...for the first time I saw her doing all that I was shocked...I didnt even knew what makeup was when I was like her age...lol.

I started in 7th grade, but only mascara and eyeliner. But of course I decided to be a "rebel" and wear a tad bit of foundation. Which was EXTREMELY CAKEY. I didn't notice until my mom broke it to me. Now I have a cake face unless I mix my foundation with lots of moisturizer. Still I'm not heavy, no eyeshadow just yet. But I think 7th grade is a great START. About 10th grade for full face. I think it's okay to start early so you can learn, without embarrassing yourself a lot.

I started using liner on my water line when I was 17 and kept it to just that until I was 19. I'm 21 now and all I use is a liner (colored at times) and a concealer.
So for me, 7th-8th grade is sickly young for makeup lol.
All you beautiful little girls out there, you're skin right now is flawless, don't cover it beneath a layer. Flaunt it!

I started wearing concealer/foundation when I was about 9, acne hit me at a very young age and I was getting made fun of because of my blemishes. My parents didn't want me wearing any more than that, but I'd keep trying to secretly use mascara at school, and when my parents found out, they were pretty pissed, telling me that I don't need the mascara or bright lipgloss but I never understood.
I'm nearly 21 now, work at a Starbucks, and I now realize what my parents were trying to tell me about not wearing too much makeup. I see so many young girls coming in wearing way too much makeup and it makes me a little sad. They have so much of their natural, young beauty that instead of emphasizing their beautiful features, they end up masking them.
I'd say play around with makeup at home, but actually start wearing makeup in high school. To this day, I might complain about how bad my face looks or how my makeup looks bad on a certain day, and all she says to me is, "you're young and beautiful. Don't forget that."

People have to keep in mind that makeup isn't always the cause of making people look older. On my 11th birthday someone thought I was turning 15, when I was 12 someone wad handing out wine samples and tried to hand me one, and last month (just wearing mascara and transparent powder) someone once again (at the liquor store) tried selling me tequila. I'm 14.

Well of course some people just naturally look older, but you have to admit people wearing makeup look a lottt older than without. I'm 21 and if I don't wear makeup people think I'm 16-18 lol. It amazes me when 13 year olds look older than I do now haha.

16. I started waxing my eyebrows in 6th grade and I looked WAY too old for my age. My moms stylist convinced my mom that I needed to clean them up and because of that I always had weird old men hitting on me... In the 6th grade! That's disgusting and horrible. I wish I could go back and slap her for that. & I only started tweezing / filling in my brows at 10th grade (15 years old), graduated to natural lipstick colors under lipgloss at 11th grade, started playing with eyeliner the summer going into senior year (17) and when I turned 18 I started playing with blush. Now my everyday makeup routine is brows, eyeliner, under eye concealer, bronzer, blush and lipstick (I rarely touch lipgloss anymore). I only go a full face if I'm home and I want to play or if I'm going out to an event. I feel the way I graduated into the makeup world worked for the age I was in, and when (god willing) I have a daughter I would advise her to do the same.

Ages 13-15 I think lipgloss and mascara is ok, 16 and up I feel is the appropriate age to wear a full face of makeup.

Depends on how much. I say a 12 year old could wear light eyeshadow and a lipgloss, and then 13-15 you can wear eyeliner, neutral eyeshadow, and lip gloss & then 16+ whatever you want c:

I started wearing makeup when I was 12 and now looking back I feel like it was kind of early... On the other hand, there is a girl in my grade who is 17 and her mom does not let her wear makeup. I think that's pretty extreme so I would say starting light at 13 is fine!

I am fourteen, and for everyday I wear nothing. For a little more oomph ill do a cat eye and tight line! Sometimes ill add lipstick! But I wouldn't wear a full face of makeup ever because I have very acne probe skin. I think it's okay to start experimenting with makeup around twelve and wearing it at fourteenish and then full face at sixteen? I always shoot for natural, if not light makeup!
