My son is half black and half white and I also had issue with dry hair and dry, flaky scalp. I got him Just For Me Scalp Cnditioner And Hairdress with Vitamin E, from Soft & Beautiful. I would put it on his scalp and hair before bed and he has no more issues. I also wash his hair very rarely, maybe once every 1-2 weeks.

Coconut oil. It works great on all kinds of hair, but for thick curly dry hair is perfect. You can do an overnight nutrition. Heat the oil until its warm, and apply to her locks. Leave it on all night and wash the next morning (you can do it from fri to sat or sat to sun). How much washing it needs depends on your hair. My hair is straight and very thin so I have to remove the oil 3 times with shampoo. Maybe for her hair you don't even need to shampoo... do it every week and youll see that in a month or so her hair will look better and be more manageble. Also Olive Oil is good for afro hair, but it kinda smells bad...

You can also apply it to her scalp if it is really dry.

Definitely do not wash everyday. 100% extra virgin coconut oil is a great moisturizer. Also try the Shea Moisture line of hair products sold at Target. They are all natural and made for curly hair. Also try the Kinky-Curly line. I am currently using Shea Moisture on myself and my daughters and have been very satisfied. If you go on YouTube look up Shamelessmaya and Sunkissalba, both curly girls with great tips and they show you how to use those products I've mentioned.

Use this stuff called ouidad, you can get it at sephor if your looking for a not damaging good shampoo, also use argon oil or go to a beauty supply store like sally's bc they have this product there that helps with that I just can't remember the name but it really works, I've used a sample size (I'm hispanic, black, and white, but my hair is really insane) and try getting her hair deep conditioned or using an argon oil or coconut oil based hair mask once a week.

I've heard the Deva curl products are amazing. They have a good shampoo, especially made for curly hair. Also read Google and read up on The curly girl method, teaches how to manage and what products are good for curly hair. http://www.mydevacurl.com/products.
