Okay ladies, I'm a white female with a 6 year biracial daughter. her hair is currently pass the middle of her back, SUPER THICK & CURLY! My problem is.. is sooooo dry! I've tried everything.. different conditioners, pink lotion, leave-in conditioner, detanglers, relaxers, grease, so on and so forth... and NOTHING has worked! she LOVES wearing her haor down, but being its SO thick it knots up immediately. (unless straightened) but tht is a super long 4 1/2 hour process! YES! her hair is tht thick!! Even if I try to do the natural cute wet look with her hair diwn and gel in it.. her hair eats the gel. "normal" haor would look wet all day or atleast most of the day, hers? MAYBE an hour- hour 1/2! I don't know what to do anymore.. PLEASE HELP!!

How often do you wash her hair? because naturally hair shouldn't be washed everyday. it may be becoming knotty because all the natural oils are being stripped by the shampoo.

Moisturize her hair daily by spraying her hair with water, apply a leave in conditioner and then deal her hair with olive oil (cooking olive oil) or coconut oil. You can also deal with gel. Her hair is never going to have the "wet look". Wash with shampoo only once a week. Co wash with conditioner as,many times as you like. Detangle her hair soaking wet with slot of conditioner, use a wide tooth comb. I love using kinky curly's knot today it's a great leave in and it helps with everyday detangling. You can check out naturallycurly.com for more tips. Never relax her hair again lol.

*seal, sealer hair helps to lock in moisture.

Section her hair while detangling and work from the bottom up. Maintain her hair is going to seen like a full time job lol. You can also moisturize her hair before she goes to bed and wrap her hair in a satin scarf.

When combing her hair start at the ends and work your way up.

I have 3 mixed daughters and only 1 of them has crazy thick and unmanageable hair. I use a Shea butter leave in conditioner in her hair. And I am able to leave her hair down with no problems. It's by Cantu.

I only wash her hair like twice a month with shampoo, I heard awhile ago tht it dries the hair out so I cut it down dramatically a long time ago. any time I wash it is jus with conditioner.. LEANORA your a so right! it does seem like a full time job, its actually exhausting now lol.. I don't know how to "seal the hair" I've heard of it but do know how to do it. I can braid but she hates it. she's very tender headed but I jus ignore it lol and braid it anyways. its the ONLY way I can tame it. every night she goes to bed with a satin cap on (I read on a website to do tht awhile ago) but anytime I brush it it breaks so bad. like my lap will be full of her hair. thank you ladies for the suggestions! :-)

Leanora is on point with advice...took the words right outta my mouth. Some products worth playing around with...As I Am, Kinky Curly, SheaMoisture. I have thick curly hair myself...so much of it that I have enough for several weaves after I brush it out. I avoid any shampoos that contain sulfates because that junk would straight knot up my hair sonething fierce plus it contributes to it being dry. Its an adventure trying to get the right mix but its so worth it. And that creamy crack alone (relaxer). :)

Omg am so glad that you posted this!! My daughter's hair is the same way but she is only three and I feel really bad because unlike her I straight hair so I always where it out and she wants me to leave hers out but she doesn't understand that I can't leave her hair because of the knots...what I do is I wash her hair once every two weeks and when I was I do her hair right away like while its still wet...and girl let tell braids are amazing they help make the hair more manageable but on the down side breakage...ladies is there any brand that you would recommend?

Last night what I did was put conditioner on her hair (frutis kind- only kind I had) left iy on all night (shower cap and satin cap over it) rinsed it this morning her hair was SO much easier to brush. so I put it in low pigtail braids. she wantrd to leave it down, always does, but I jus can't.. its too much. cuz by the end of the school day her head would be dreads practically!

Her hair is beautiful! Sealing hair is very simple, just apply oil or gel after moisturizing. You should only brush her hair when you detangle so her curls can take there natural state. You shouldn't have to cowash and detangle her hair everyday, maybe every 3 days.

Her hair type looks like it's 3b I have type 3c curls. You can also go on YouTube and research videos on how to care for her hair.
