I live in a state where makeup artists are exempt from licensing, and I recently applied for a few pro cards using my website, business cards, etc. In your experience, has it been difficult to get approved for such things without having a cosmetology license or union card?
Thanks!

I am in the same situation and so far I have had luck with the beauty supply stores like Frends & LeCosmetique. I just applied for OCC a few minutes ago with the same information you have. I haven't tried for bigger companies but I know the next place I will apply is Camera Ready Cosmetics. they have a Pro as well as an Aspiring Pro discount. Those places have pretty much everything you need. You might try those as well as Naimies and Nigels.

I don't have a cosmetology license, but have been doing makeup for over five years. If you have a business, they'll actually take business cards, websites and few other requirements. I have pro discounts at mac, naimies, lecosmetique, MUFE, camera ready cosmetics, smashbox, and a few other places. So, I think you shouldn't have to much trouble getting pro discounts. I would just apply at naimies. I hardly ever use my other discounts I always go to naimies. If you want something that's not available, but the brand is on the website call them and order it. Hope this helps.

Thanks, ladies! I got my UD Pro account yesterday and still waiting to hear back from Naimie's. Glad to know it's possible!

I have most pro cards I'm not licensed however I usually send in my business card or website and a call sheet from a film, I mainly work in film and television and that does the trick.

You don't need them. Tears and call sheets are accepted.
