If a girl (or boy) wants to wear a garter belt more power to them! I'm not anyone to pass judgement on what makes someone feel good about themselves. It's like someone getting mad at me for having purple hair.

I think it's more for a wedding thing. I would allow my daughter to wear one for prom lol no one should be seeing that anyway at prom so it would be pointless lol

Garter belts are a wedding tradition, I've never heard of them being worn to proms but maybe it's some new fad I've never heard of? And good point, Brandy! No one should see it anyways... unless there's more going on at proms than we realize, haha.

I always like to wear garter belts with garter (straps) holding up my thigh-high stockings, so that's not weird... but a bridal garter band for prom is something I've never heard of before.

Unless they are holding up stockings (in which case just wear hose), I wouldn't allow any child of mine to wear a garter. Garters are made for three things: holding up stockings, holding a dancer's money, or being removed by one's husband in the most embarrassing wedding ritual ever conceived. None of those apply to prom, or any other activity in which a teenage girl would be involved.

Again, what is the point? If you're itching to get something with your grad year on it, get jewelry so people can see it.
Given what garters are used for (which I outlined above), if someone at my prom had been wearing one and showed it off she would've been called a slut. Cruel, but that's how it goes. Are you sure you want to potentially invite that kind of commentary? I just really feel that a garter belt is inappropriate in this situation.

Wow funny!usually there worn n sexy lingerie ads,sexual activity ;-),or maybe jst to make the person feel sexy for themselves.Bt ya there used to hold up falling thigh highs,I would wear thm for bridal but for prom?whtevr the person feels that's their own business.I'm old school fool if my daughter wanted to wear that I'm thinking its really for her date so no she wouldn't b allowed sorry I got old traditional hispanic morals lol.
