I would honestly go to Sephora over Mac but that's my personal opinion- I really think you should go look into them yourself at each store because you might like certain ones from each brand- you know? You should also not only care about just the softness- because of course that is nice, but the denseness and material of the brush it's self, (because this does matter, a denser brush will make for a much better application and transfer of product to your face)...for example, synthetic bristles like real techniques is made of are amazingly soft and really dense, but some people don't like to blend shadows with synthetic brushes, (talkon synthetic fibers- ecotools are made of the same material as well- which I really don't think it matters, but it does to some people and professionals who are constantly using them through out the day, for several different looks), versus both Sephora and Mac brushes which are both mixed between synthetic and natural fibers for the bristles. (like goat, squirrel, ox, pony, whichever is softest) Also since you live in Canada you should be able to find a boutique by you on this page that sells real techniques brushes: http://realtechniques.com/where-to-buy
Hope this helps you decide!
