I "ombréd" my hair and I love it.
I tend to get bored by my hair color when I don't change it and since I got ombré I don't have that problem anymore :)
I would recommend a light blonde and I would start right under your shoulders :]

Yes, you would look great with ombre hair. You can use a dye from Hot Topic or the Loreal brand. You can also opt for hair extensions as well if you want to "try it out first" I have included a pick of what I think would look great on you. Good luck!
