I wanted to know if its a good idea to take classes to do acrylic nails? Or can you self teach yourself?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I live in the Newark nj area , does anyone offer or know of any classes?

Without instructions, you can't really teach yourself. Are you looking to take classes just to be able to do your own nails? Or are you trying to become a nail artist/manicurist?

I wouldn't take any classes then if you're trying to do your own nails. I mean you can. In a way it would be good to learn about the products, safety and stuff. If not, I can help you out or you can always youtube. There's a bunch of tutorials on how to apply acrylic.

I think it might be that I always had the same person doing my nails before I moved to the states. I always had gel nails tho. I've been here for 5 years now and I haven't found one salon that I truly love. I hope I don't sound snobby or picky :/.
I would appreciate help :) I'm definitely going to start getting supplies and start watching some you tube channels :)

Not at all. I'm like that too. I hated going to salons because it never turned out how I want it to. And the liquids they use burns my ring fingers. It's actually good that you're picky. Your paying for something you should love and continue running back to.
Since the bad experience, I started doing my own nails. Before I went to beauty school, I use to color and design my own nails. Now that I'm learning acrylic, I love it!
I think it's best if you go to walmart, target or any beauty store and get a acrylic set for beginners. It would be best for you to start off with so you can understand what things you need and how to apply it.

I often feel like I'm wasting my money at the salons. Now that I know you've done it & knowing its possible for me to do it I'm really excited to get started :)
