Hi Keri,

Unfortunately there is no way to actually shrink pores. Keeping your skin clean and making sure they are not clogged can prevent them from getting larger and will actually help make them appear smaller over time. Using a skincare brush in conjunction with a deep cleaner like the Clarisonic will help this. The cleanser will depend on your skin type. Let me know if you need recommendations!

You should also exfoliate 3-5 times a week. Sometimes people (I'll admit I'm guilty of this) can over exfoliate which will actually stretch the pore and make it larger so keep that in mind. Jojoba seeds or a brown sugar scrub are great because of the small granule size. Alternatively you can opt for a chemical exfoliant such as Dermalogica which contains glycolic acid and helps with cell turnover.

Lastly, from a cosmetic perspective use a primer that has a high grade of dimethicone in it. This way it sits on top of your skin and makes your foundation glide on smoothly instead of melting into the pore and clogging it. I just purchased Too Faces' Primed and Poreless and I am in love with it.

I hope this helps!

It has helped thankyou, but I've got this clearasil face cleanser but it feels more like a scrub. it's got like little bits in which are hard. should I be using this twice a day? after that I tone and moisturise. I also have a face mask on twice a week? and use LUSH products:) is that alright or would you recommend anything else? not too expensive please

I'd recommend using your Clearasil scrub as your exfoliation 3-5 times a week, and using a gentle deep cleansing cleanser such as the LUSH 9 to 5 cleanser or the LUSH Charcoal cleanser (if your skin is breakout prone) with the Clarisonic brush (The Mia is just as effective as the original brush but way cheaper). Followed by your toner and moisturizer then prep and prime :)

Gritty face scrub should be used once or twice a week at the most. They are very harsh on the skin. They also break open existing pimples causing bacteria to get back in there and cause delayed healing of zits.

Thankyou girls, wasn't a big fan of the charcoal one from LUSH, too messy but I'll use my boyfriends herbalism for now:p that's why I have black heads then is it? I also have cetaphil, is that a good cleanser?
