This sounds stupid but I always thought I had dry skin because of how my skin felt and how I never have problems with my foundation sliding off.
Being that I have acne, (whiteheads, blackheads, and cystic) does that mean technically I have oily skin? Or is it possible to have dry skin and still be acne prone? Just confused because if this is true I guess I should switch up my routines...

Moat of the time acne prone skin is paired with oily. but you can have dry skin and be acne prone. Make sure all skin care and cosmetics are non clogmengic. it'll say on the packaging.

I actually just introduced the cerave PM ito my routine like 2 weeks ago and I'm really hoping that isn't the reason I'm breaking out lately, because it says non comodomic (however you spell it lol)

I am dry skin and very acne prone. Acne isn't catered to a specific skin type.

You definitely don't have to be oily skinned to have acne. oily/normal/combo/dry all have to do with oil production and how the skin feels. if your skin is tight, rough, flaky, it's probably dry. if it's shiny/greasy and usually have large pores. if you don't have any of those issues your skin is probably normal. I had it explained to me as, oily skin gets acne because the extra sebum stays in the enlarged pores and gets trapped and built up. dry skin gets acne because the skin cells "stick" together and trap dirt and sebum under the pores.
cerave is supposed to be good for the skin and dermatologists will even recommend it. but it breaks me out too, I'm thinking it's the capric triglyceride from comparing ingredients to other things but I'm not 100% sure. if I need real deep moisture I'll use embryolisse but I can't even use that daily. I stick with my oils for the most part.

Thank you Kitty!
Thank you Aleena! I'm going to continue using it for a few weeks or so t see if my skin calms down, and if it was something else breaking me out before I remove it from my routine entirely

Non comodogenic is a marketing claim. Lots of "good" ingredients can break lots of people out. Skincare is a science but only to a degree. Your skin just may not like certain ingredients. There's a lot of trial and error if your skin is finicky and it's just part of the deal. If you continue to notice a consistent increase in your acne and you haven't changed anything else recently, it's probably that product, though you cannot be sure which ingredient it was.
