Make myself look more awake!

I often don't get enough sleep, which isn't helped by my insomnia (I struggle getting to sleep and lots of sleeping pills don't agree with me), work, university, just everyday life, the list goes on! I'm sure a lot of you will know the feeling. Both my jobs are very physical too (Childrens nursery and gymnastics coaching). But whenever I am tired or feeling a bit off, it shows on my face and in my eyes instantly. It makes my whole face look dull and tired. I drink at least 3L of water a day to hydrate my skin and to help it glow a little from within but it doesn't seem to do a lot.

I was wondering if anyone knew anything, be it skincare, makeup, etc.that can make me look more awake (even if it doesn't make me feel more awake!). I don't mind drugstore or high end, but available in the UK please (and not only on Sephora as the shipping to the UK is extortionate). My skin type is combo but with dry/flaky patches on the sides of my forehead, under my eyes, upper lip and upper chin and then oily everywhere else) and it is quite sensitive. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, please let me know as I don't think I've had a day in the past year where someone hasn't told me I look tired or ill

If you find your skin looking dull, then Loreal has a CC cream in anti-dullness (it is purple but turns into your skin colour after rubbing it in) and it is great under makeup or to wear alone! It isn't like a full coverage thing... but it colour corrects dullness (I use their anti-redness CC cream and it works amazingly for my red areas). Some makeup tips is to highlight (with a light colour) the inner corner of your eyes. You could also conceal under your eyes in a triangle type shape with a colour lighter than your foundation (it not only conceals but will also brighten of it's a bit lighter). And a shimmery or glowy highlighter can always put a nice glow back into the face... I highly recommend physician formula highlighters, they are so glowy and pretty

What do you mean by "dull and tired" as in sallow and dark circles? Or puffiness? Like what are some specific things you are concerned about? If it's tired looking eyes from dark circles or puffiness I find a good eye cream can tackle multiple things - like the Clinique all about eyes cream is great - they have a rich formula for more dry skin types and it works well under makeup as well - for sallow skin I would suggest a peach color corrector/primer - and this is also good for dark circles - I like the Bobbi brown color corrector - and find it works well to combat discoloration - anyways hope that helps!

For a natural finish I recommend the bareminerals tinted moisturizer. I personally think it's the best tinted moisturizer out there...it gives a nice glow to your face. Also I recommend a little blush as well, if you have light skin, a little bit of pink flush to your cheeks will be sufficient. For medium/darker skin tones, try a peach toned blush. Also for your eyes, try using an undereye concealer or a brightening cream or you can use a concealer one shade lighter, just blend it well with a beauty sponge :). Also, what I like to do to finish off the no makeup makeup look is tightline my upper lash line to make my eyes appear more wide awake and finish off with mascara.

Also it doesn't hurt to use a firming facial mask before you do your makeup :)

I find that dabbing concealer into the inner corners of my eyes works really well.
