I had blue hair for almost two years now. I used veggie based dyes. My hair is almost fully faded with a little blue tint. I want to do dark gray. Can I tone without bleaching again?

I'd say you'd have to bleach it until it's completely white and then tone and dye to a dark grey

I agree with Hannah, I have bits of faded purple left in my hair and I want to do gray and my coworker, who's a cosmetologist, said the purple is still going to have to be bleached out even though it's already so faded.

Go with the 20 volune! Never used 40 vol unless you're using it for just a few minutes to lighten virgin hair. 40 vol is rarely ever used even in salons, it's just too easy to damage the hair quickly.

Have you ever bleached blue out of your hair? Use the 20vol but tbh don't expect it to come out blonde/white because blue tends to stain hair even when being bleached out and most times will result in a not very nice green colour that's super hard to remove, just my experience with blues and greens in hair.

I bleached blue before, I used 40 but I didn't put foil on it so it didn't do its job properly, I saved my hair from getting damaged bad.

I have blue bleaching powder, is it different from the red one?

I'm a colorist, and you risk frying your hair trying to remove that yourself. Typically you'd want you go "low and slow" e.g use 20 vol. blue based bleach helps to eliminate the orange brassiness that comes with lightening hair. Blue tends to stain the hair cuticle, so it'll most likely just turn greenish. How dark of a dark grey are you looking to get to? Your hair cannot have any orange or yellow tones in it or it will be green. Go to a profession
