Switching foundation shades?

Hello all!
I have a question about my makeup shade. I currently use Double Wear in ivory nude (1N1), but I've gotten even paler! I've seen that there are 2 other light shades: bone and cool bone. However, I've looked online and tried to find swatches and in some of them the shade bone is lighter but some it is darker.
I know I should actually just go to a store and try them myself but the nearest one is 2 hours away and I really don't have much time to go anymore so I always shop online. If I end up having to actually go that's fine, but I figured I'd ask all the knowledgeable beauties on here first:)

Also, I don't want anything that runs really pink!

I hate to say it, but this is something worth a visit to the counter where you can obtain not only a perfect match, but samples..often deluxe samples or several smaller varieties.

Despite I'm in a giant city, my area does not have a nearby Ulta or Sephora. It's an hour no matter which way I go and when in a time crunch, it can be brutal so I completely sympathize with your frustration. I find that combining errands, bringing a friend or family member, and planning a day around my travel makes it worthwhile.

So if you do take 2 hours each way, go for a specialty lunch...hit up FourSquare, Google, or Yelp to see what other activities or places in the area you'd like to visit, but never have the time or want to travel to. I go to the movies and for sushi when I hit up my Sephora. If I head downtown, I plan a walk by the lake, my favorite coffee, a trip to a few other businesses or visiting friends so that the trip is productive as a whole and often, I can get in errands necessary for my work or deadlines I need to keep.

I'm very pale myself and I do feel for getting that shade just right. You may want to look online for places that have a counter from Estee Lauder in a Dept. Store or within a Sephora you wouldn't expect, such as JC Penney.

Hope you work it out and find a solution.  :)

My advice would be to go to a drugstore and find a couple of good foundation matches. Then use Temptalia's foundation matrix or the Findation website. The more matches you put in, the more effective the site is. Check to see who is having sales. It can be the least expensive foundation- Rimmel, Maybelline Fit Me is only 5 dollars at Target. If you have to buy a more expensive drugstore brand like L'Oréal- save your receipt and return it once you determine it's a match. Unless you like it enough to keep it as a back up to your HG Double Wear. You sound like a true neutral- I'm the same. I don't want anything too pink or too yellow.
Another option is to get a mixing medium to lighten your current foundation. KVD has a white foundation that you could add to your DW. I believe that Illamasqua makes a white liquid foundation as well. Face Atelier also has a product called Zero Minus that lightens foundations. It would be compatible with DW. Hope this helps!

Rozberry that's very true! It would be a fun way to treat myself and spend a fun day with someone else :) especially since I never have time to go anywhere lately. Thank you for the ideas!
And Jenni I actually thought about getting some of the white liquids to mix! I'll look more into those also :) thank you!

The No7 contour does amazing and accurate colour matches and their foundations are the bomb! Hope this helps:) ♡

I wear 1N1 as well. I also find its a little too dark for me. However, I'm sad to say that is their lightest neutral shade. Bone and Cool Bone are 1W1 and 1C1. That means the differenve in those 3 shades is the undertone. The N stands for neutral, which means it is not supposed to lean pink or yellow. The C is for cool (leans pink) and the W is for warm (leans yellow). So, if you change to one of those shades the undertone will lean more pink or yellow than what you are currently using.

Thank you Anna! I've never tried No7 products before but have heard they have good things.
And Shannon that's a bummer! Pale girl problems. Do you mix a white base in to lighten yours?

I actually only wear it for special occasions, but I just try to make sure it's blended well onto my neck. They used to carry a lighter shade in their maximum coverage double wear (in the blue tube), and it was perfect! that was my favorite foundation until I found out they discontinued that shade. I've been using loreal pro matte lately in the lightest shade and it matches pretty well. But its not quite as full coverage as I'd like. Its more medium coverage.

Yes I always have to really work on my neck but it's still pretty obvious now on me:/ and I also use that L'Oréal foundation! I do really like it but like my double wear just a tad more

That's a bummer :/ It's dissapointing that they don't carry lighter shades! And I know what you mean; the double wear has a more full/flawless coverage.

1W1 is super light however it is super yellow toned but if that's what you're looking for then that's the shade I'd recommend, I had the lady when she matched me swatch a whole lot of different colours and I keep telling myself that when I run out of the shade I did get (2C1) I'll be purchasing probably 1W1 just because it closer resembles the colour of my true match in W1, for some reason I got matched to cool toned but it doesn't look awful. This is the 2C1's colour on my skin, bit on the darker side for my neck but matches everywhere else lol! One of those colours I should bring down my neck a little bit haha.

1W1 is super super light though, just very yellow toned for sure. :)

And I found 1N1 was definitely darker than the W1 :)
