OK I'm in love with my DIY vanity! but I feel like the lighting is off? I've tried 60w, 40w, a mix of 60 and 40, clear bulbs, GE reveal, but I feel like I still can't see that great unless I'm up closer?! I have great eye sight so it has nothing to do with that! lol does anyone know what SPECIFIC LIGHT BULBS I NEED?! HELP PLZ?! I've been researching and trying different light bulbs for like 2 years and still haven't found a solution! 😭😭😭

Wattage means next to nothing for bulbs. That's just how much energy it uses. lumens will tell you how bright it is, and Kelvin will tell you how warm or cool the light is. natural daylight is somewhere between 4800 and 5400 depending on the time of day if I remember right. after some trial and error I use 800 and 1100 lumen 5000k daylight led lights for my homemade vanity light bars and I feel it gives me the best replication of noon daylight and is bright enough to work with.
some things you'll always need a hand mirror or magnifier for, like you'll probably never see your eyeliner well in a large mirror a foot away from you unless you have eagle vision to begin with. but if you are having problems seeing your blush, contour, etc. or notice you are applying things too harshly when you go outside try making sure you have a backlight on and maybe consider some lights along the top to add more focus on the mirror since the ones on the side are pointing straight out.
is there a good way to describe what you mean when you say you have problems seeing? like what specifically can't you see clearly?

Like my makeup looks different outside. I can't see the things that I should be able to see in my big bright vanity! lol.

I use a happy light. It's just a lamp used for light therapy but it gives off the equivalent of natural light!

Look for lightbulbs that simulate natural daylight. I think that might be part of the problem. Natural daylight is a good blend of white and blue, and the yellow-er lights we tend to buy for our homes don't show us details before we go outside, which is why sometimes, for me anyway, I look worse outside than in my bathroom. Once I noticed this, I now try to to do my makeup in front of a window with indirect sun so I can see what I'll look like when I leave the house -- bright and honest lighting. I just went shopping for lightbulbs, and somewhere on the box, it will tell you what type of light it emits - daylight, mellow yellow, and everything in between :) good luck finding what you need!
