What is the best way to put it on to make it look smooth and natural? Because when I put it on it either looks too dark or too light.

How Hailey suggested is how I do it. But I start off with doing two lines at the tail end on top of my brows and underneath and blend with a spoolie, then fill in with light, short strokes if I need anymore on the tail. Then I trace a line underneath from the start to the tail of my brow and blend with a spoolie. I use an angled eyeliner brush and a spoolie brush.
