I want some step by step instruction on how to do cat eye and winged eyeliner. I'm not sure if there is a difference. I try to do it but it never comes out right. Thank you in advance.

I put tape (stick it to your clothes and peel off a few times before you stick it to your skin) and line it up with the angle of your lower lash line, going up to your eyebrow. Then use an angled brush with gel liner or a liquid liner and apply in line with the tape. I find it easier to do the liner along the upper lash line first, then put the tape on and apply the liner, peeling off while the liner is still wet. This is how I learnt, you can use masking tape too.

Personally (I have kind of hooded eyes so I need to make it look even when my eyes are open) I do these steps (using the Kat Von D tattoo eyeliner, it's very precise):

First I open my eyes, look dead ahead and draw two matching lines from the outer corner of my eye, angles towards the tail of my brow (the length is personal to you).

I then do a thin line across my eyes, close to the lash line (where you start is up to you).

I then draw a line (with my eyes open) from the end of the angled line to wherever I feel like the wing should stop (outer part of my iris usually).

I close my eye and fill in any gaps of the wing portion. Because of hooded eyes, natural creases leave gaps but you can just fill those in.

Finally, I fill it all in, making the thing eyeliner transition smoothly into the wing!

Sounds a lot more complicated than it is, but what's important is practice! 💕💕💕 I hope I helped!

Forgot to add the picture but this is what my wings end up looking like, they can be as long or as short as you want x

I usually start from the outer corner of the eye it's so much easier. Charlotte tilbury feline flick liner rocks!

Line the pen in that corner bet the top and bottom lid. Close your eye a bit and drag it out and up toward the tail of your brow. Then connect it to the top lash line with a very thin line. That should help with some practice. Good luck!

Emma, do you think your technique would work without having hooded eyes?

There are many styles & levels of drama when it comes to doing a winged eyeline. Plus, not everyones eyeshape is the same. Here is a simple technique. You may have to tweak it to your eyeshape.

Riley I think so, my eyes aren't very hooded but my crease line goes down where eyeliner would be. If anything, using the technique would be easier without hooded eyes because you won't have any gaps to fill in with the line :)
