I use Mary Kay botanical effects cleanser, Mary Kay clear proof acne treatment gel, and botanical effect moisturizer. It helped clear my acne considerably.

Don't go straight to medication, try consistent face washing routines, I suggest using Liz Earle. Getting some sun on your face can help but not too much you don't want to burn. Try to resist touching your face, it sounds weird and somewhat difficult but trust me it works.

I really wouldn't recommend Lush products; from a formulation perspective they're loaded with plant extracts that are proven to be damaging to the skin. Common ingredients you'll find include citrus in various forms, lavender, neroli, added fragrance that they try to label as naturally occurring in essential oils when the very reason they're on the ingredient list is because Lush decided to isolate them to add more. I could continue, but suffice to say there is no dermatologist worth their salt behind Lush's products.

Natural is not necessarily better, but there are some very natural items which can absolutely be a boon to your skincare routine. I'm personally a huge fan of both green tea and raw, unfiltered honey, both of which have potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Honey especially is a jack of all trades substance when you buy it in its raw form. It has both of the aforementioned benefits, but additionally provides mild antibacterial action and helps draw moisture to the skin. Even for somebody like myself with oily skin it's been a god-send. I incorporate both of those into my daily/nightly skincare routine, along with a benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid product. The latter products I buy from Paula's Choice, because they provide additional antibacterial action, and salicylic acid (or some kind of chemical exfoliating agent) is absolutely crucial for any moderate acne treatment/prevention regimen if you are not using an intense topical prescription or Accutane.

Getting into a routine of avoiding sun damage will also help acne. Daily SPF is a must.

Your skin will thank you if you put in the time to thoroughly research everything you put on it.

It isn't formulated for the skin, but that's what makes it special if you want to shrink them. But mabye I was wrong it you have severe acne, cuz that might cause damage to your skin but not mine cuz my skin is naturally clear and flawless, (it's in my family's genes) and I just use it If I happen to have one huge zit. Anyways, looks like you will have to live with it. Btw don't use proactive system. It's very bad I've heard from all my friends and family. Just trying to help.

I disagree with Kathryn, toothpaste isn't formulated for the skin and can cause damage.

I think you should go back to your derm (or even see another derm for a second opinion) and discuss other options besides Accutane

If your acne is pretty bad then, I suggest during the night you put a little toothpaste on the biggest, reddest zits, cuz overnight, it will shrink the zits and make them 70% less red. It may burn for a little while, but it helps me sometimes

I would have to agree with Natalie on that. African black soap worked wonders on me.

Ask your dermatologist about retin-A. I'm on it and my skin is starting to become clear again.

I'm wondering if anyone has any odd but successful acne clearing solutions. I've tried everything obvious but nothing seems to work for me. I've recently gotten a new job so I am thinking of starting to use more lush products because they're made with natural products. But I wondered if anyone else had ideas or solutions. My deem has recommended accutane previously but I was told I can't take it because of other mess I have to be on... So that's an idea of how bad the situation is. Give a girl some help! Thanks!
