I have really oily and acne prone skin and I need advice for the best foundations and concealers for my skin type. Any other advice on how to get rid of acne is greatly appreciated!

Thanks xoxo

As a person who has oily and acne-prone skin, as well, I personally have found success with Clinique Acne Solutions foundation, which I believe is medium coverage, but don't quote me on that. I have been on the search for another foundation, as I am almost out, and over and over again have been recommended Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation (Full Coverage) and Dermablend Smooth Liquid Camo (Medium to Full). As for concealer, I'm still on the hunt for my holy grail, so nothing exactly great yet. :)

Foundation: I have a neutral undertone and budget is less than 75. Coverage is medium.

Acne: I wash my face with Aveeno's clear complexion foaming cleanser and I mix that with activated charcoal. Then I rinse my face off and let it air dry. After that, I grab a cotton ball and use one part Apple cider vinegar and three parts water as a "toner". I read online that that helps kill extra bacteria. Lastly, if I'm going out I use Rodan + Feilds unblemished oil control lotion with spf 20.

As for dermatologist, my acne isn't that bad. But there still enough of it to bug me. So I've never been to a dermatologist recently. Last time I went it was for this Texas Sun rash (which is basically just discoloration on the skin) We asked about my acne and she said she couldn't tell me if mine would be good or bad, but she recommended the Neutrogena face wash...and that stuff dried out my skin. And for moisturizer for when my skin is getting a little dry I use coconut oil, because I don't have very dry skin at all.

Coconut oil can actually cause breakouts, especially in acne prone skin.

For skincare I suggest the Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash, Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel, Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask, and No7 Beautiful Skin Toner for Normal/Oily Skin.

For foundation I suggest the Estée Lauder Double Wear (medium to full coverage with a matte finish) or Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Foundation (medium to full coverage with a natural/radiant finish) and for concealer NYX HD Concealer.

Thank you Alexis! With the coconut oil I never put it all over my face! Just a small amount around my chin and mouth when it starts getting a little dry. I haven't had any problems with it! I will definitely check out your foundation and skin care recommendations! Thanks so much!

I've struggled with very oily skin for a long time. When I started using retin-a my skin became normal but quite dry everywhere else and now my skin is back to the oily mess lol and when I say oily, I mean it looks like my whole face has cooking oil on it within an hour, normally.

I suggest getting a moisturizer that's geared for normal skin that is glycerin based. These types really hydrate your skin but the glycerin won't make your skin feel greasy and actually prevents you from getting as oily.
Some moisturizer have too much emollients and end up making it look/feel like you're the same oiliness if you didn't apply the moisturizers.
Moisturizers geared toward oily skin are good but a decent amount end up dehydrating the skin and causing it the produce more oil so read up on the ingredients list and not how it makes your skin feel when you put it on, it shouldn't make your face feel tight which is a sign of dryness or dehydration.

Now, as for foundation. I would second the Estée Lauder double wear since you have a neutral undertone.
It personally wasn't my fave but it's probably more due to the color I had ordered was too dark and I used it a few times but ended up selling it on an app cause I just don't feel like mixing foundations to match on a daily basis for myself.
Another good one for oily skin is CoverFX custom cover drops. They do offer a neutral range and I really like this mixed with a dime size amount of primer. With six drops you can get full coverage and it VERY long last even on me when I perspire. And if you have dry spots you can just mix a couple of drops with moisturizer like the cerave one and it'll give you the coverage and such but catered more toward your skin type

I have oily/combo acne prone skin that's also sensitive due to psoriasis my favorite high end foundation with medium coverage is the MUFE mat velvet - it looks so natural but covers minor acne nicely - I also like to use a concealer by Clinique the acne solutions concealer for raised red bumps - it has a green corrector built in to cancel the red and let the bump blend in with the rest of your skin tone - for treating acne it's going to vary by what type of acne you have - I personally have cystic acne and my sensitivities are mainly toward synthetic preservatives so I go for more natural products like tea tree oil, witch hazel, and jojoba oil - they seem to work best for me - but if you don't want to go the natural route I would suggest looking into paulas choice and Mario badescu - they have great acne lines that work really well for all skin types - whenever you have acne you need a good skin care routine with a cleanser, toner, moisturizer, spot treatment, and SPF - make sure you follow your routine every day even when your skin is clear to prevent future acne - hope that helps!

The CoverGirl 3 in 1 Outlast combined with The Body Shop Tea Tree Primer (small bottle and expensive but SO worth it) keep my skin matte for hours and I have the oiliest skin ever. Plus the acne prone too smh
