Major acne all over face.

Hi! So I've had acne since the 5th grade, I'm currently in 9th grade, and it's gotten worse over the years. I wash my face morning and night using the three step Clinique acne treatment and I use the burtsbees herbal blemish stick on my acne. When I first got acne it was just on my forehead, now that I started using the three step it's all over my cheeks and chin. I'm really insecure about it and I do wear foundation daily to school. I've been to a dermatologist and what my doctor prescribed me did NOT work. it dried out my skin and made it itch. I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. I really really want to get rid of it. Any tips?

I would go to the doctor again and tell them what has been going on. They could probably prescribe something that will help. I have had the same problem, except mine started in late 4th grade/early 5th grade and I am still in 9th grade. Just stick to your skin routine. And if you switch it up in any way, remember that it takes two weeks for your skin routine to begin to work. You just need patience.

But that is the best advice I could give you.

I don't have bad acne but what has helped me is the tea tree face wash and toner with my clarasonic at night and in the morning I use the tea tree scrub and that has helped me. Also on Amanda Steeles YouTube channel she has a video on how she got rid of her acne and she talked about a doctor prescribed pill that helped her. I don't know the name of the pill but it says in the video and you could talk to your doctor about that.

Accutane is generally the oral treatment of choice that dermatologists will prescribe, but it's very harsh on your body and should be seen as a last resort as the list of possible side effects is really too long to list here.

I don't like Clinique's 3 step system. Their cleanser is basic, the step 2 clarifying lotions are pretty much consistently loaded with alcohol and witch hazel, and the dramtically different lotion is way too overhyped/expensive for how simple the formula is.

You can beat Clinique's cleanser easily with a foaming cleanser from CeraVe or the Gentle Clean Cleanser from Olay, both in price and efficacy.

Paula's Choice blows Clinique's Clarifying Lotion formulas out of the water with their salicylic acid products. I cannot recommend them enough.

Acne.org offers a very large size of a well-formulated benzoyl peroxide product at a great price.

Your moisturizer should be more tailored to your skin type, so I wouldn't recommend something without knowing how your skin is.

The only thing that worked for me was Accutane. Looking at my skin now I can't even imagine a time when I had acne.

You could also try an AHA or BHA exfoliant

And stop using the 3 step system if you've noticed more breakouts since using it, it might be the reason your skin got so bad.

LUSH also has some great products that help with clearing skin, grease lightning is the BEST spot treatment ever.

If you have any questions about Accutane feel free to ask

You should go to see your doctor again. Lei a you say you don't like Clinique's 3 step system, but didn't you recommend it on another post?

Thank you ladies I will definitely take a trip to lush soon! and patty s. I think I might have before, at first it was working very well until I started getting breakouts everywhere for all of my friends it has worked well though.

I have the same problem I bought this over the counter at my local dermatologist and it works like magic. Nothing else works. Everything else makes it worse

There is yet another possible cause for your problem, and that is: HORMONES
Those guys are pretty sketchy and you might be experiencing a hormonal balance issue. I would also make an appointment with your gyno and have him or her prescribe you the pill.
Leuca is right. Accutane is crazy harsh and the problem may be linked with hormonal issues more than skin issues.

The only thing that worked for me is Retin-A Micro (applied at night) and Clindamycin Phosphate (every morning). These however, were prescription medications. I'd see a dermatologist for a consultation. Everyone has different kinds of acne, that need to be treated in different ways.

I'd hesitate to go on the pill of you don't need it.. I went on it for my skin and I fell into major depression. I went off the pill, and I went back to my normal self. Just be wary of the possible side effects.

Try going to an aesthetician they can recommend skin care that I suited more for your skin tone.

The only thing that helped me was retin A, my skin is perfect now and I apply it all over my face every night to keep it that way. Retin A (tretinoin) essentially causes your skin to peel off its top layer and regenerate itself. It's prescription only though.

Exfoliating your skin is great but doing it in excess can cause acne. It can inflame your bumps, making them redder and make them more visible. So, exfoliate your skin rarely.

Everybody has different reactions to products but Noxzema's Original Deep Cleanser is the only product that works for me. My sister doesn't like it because she claims it burns. For me, it's more of a cooling sensation as it cleans my face.

Thank you all so much. I will definitely do my research on all these products.
