Sunscreen won't prevent you from tanning it will just make sure you do it in a safe matter.

What is your skin type?

Definitely sunscreen (sunscreen does not stop you from tanning, it's a high spf sunblock which does).
Moisturise your skin a LOT. You can also use a tan accelarator which brings the melanin to your skin, thus making you tan easier. I'm not sure who else does one but I know Elemis does. You start applying them (they're like a moisturiser) 2 weeks to a month before you go on holiday.

Sunscreen (which uses chemical sunscreen)
Will not prevent a tan.
You're thinking of sunblock which uses either titanium and/or zinc oxide and usually gives that white cast/feels heavier.
Chemical sunscreens are more lightweight and just prevent skin damage from the Suns rays, I'd highly suggest getting a good sunscreen especially if you'll be in Florida.

Use a spray tan.. But please please wear sunscreen! You don't want to risk skin cancer (not to mention an early appearance of wrinkles) just to get a tan!
Make sure you eat lots of fruits and veggies, and drink enough water too.

I have the same issue I LOVE getting tan and I have the habit of literally baking in the sun lol but I've found a HOLY GRAIL product I use every night to help my skin rehydrate and repair itself (suns not good at all but you know)
"Orgins Drink up hydrating mask" this stuff when put on before bed I wake up and feel so good my skin feels PERFECT and I tend to get crazy dry summer skin (I use this everywhere I need it Ik it says "mask" but whatevs)
You can go try it and buy it in your local Sephora. Retails for 17$

I suggest using sunscreen as it still allows you to get the tan that you want however it provides you with more protection against skin cancer and other sun related skin conditions. Moisturising EVERYDAY with body butter or normal moisturiser can give your skin a glowing even complexion and plumpness. The moisturisation also assists with healing of the skin, and thus, drinking plenty of water is also a bonus 👍🏻

Sunscreen is a must if you are going out from home, wear sunscrean only because you don't get harmful rays fall on your skin and have skin problems, which can go worse later. I would recommend you to use a Dermaxsol sunscreen, developed by the dermatologist. It is a hydrating cream with SPF-30 and reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
