Your welcome Tina and Breeze. I think this is important for all beauty inspired artist or anyone who wants this to be their journey to watch this because the last thing you want to do is invest into something that may not help in the end.

That it so true Alma. She really hit the nail on the head, straight to the point. Sometimes it's not only not beneficial, but even harmful if you're not being corrected by a teacher... It makes a lot of sense.

Exactly breeze and I also like the way she points out how they profit from just saying they like something.

LMAO the tin man!
It is true, a lot of these people on Instagram are just in your face like they had LED lights on their cheeks and nobody is saying anything like really?

Can you believe the online classes are using YT and IG people as a pull? And it's also owned by a person who has been charged for fraud. Geez why Oh why

What a great video and very true! A lot of things need to be done in person and make up is one of them. It's not like an academic course it's art and a profession and these little certifications will probably not get you a job doing Angelina Jolie's make up anyway. People have these expectations that it will when it's not even a real license.

And I'm dying at the tin man! 😂😂😂 His highlight out beats all these IGs!

Also not to mention these little certifications and mini classes do not cover everything! They probably don't even talk about appropriate sanitation and discuss what the CDC recommends when it comes to sanitizing stuff and I've seen artist not even ask people if they have any kind of allergies.. Uh that is very important you can't just start slathering stuff all over people's face either!

I think it all started with the "Robert Jones Academy". I wonder what you all think of that one. It's the same concept...

Wow Jacqueline, thanks for the info. When I started getting into makeup I was thinking about his program, but went against it and just went to makeup school. But his class looks helpful. I also see a bunch of his videos on YouTube too though.

Kinda embarrassed to say, but it was a course at my community college. It was decent priced and I got certified. And it was a couple of semesters. My teacher is also a celebrity makeup artist, Carolyn Simons. She taught us every type of makeup skills and everything in between from special effects to sanitation. I'm thinking of taking another course elsewhere to expand my education in makeup.

I however have been doing makeup way before I took this course. I took the course to become officially certified as well as educated.

Here in Louisiana schools are popping up that grant you a "makeup permit". The board of cosmetology's rule is that you must have a permit to freelance or work in a salon. So all these two week schools are popping up. The first one I went to was a total scam, I paid $4,000 just to become legal to do makeup. The academies I attended out of state AFTER that is where I feel I got my real education. And I still need/want to learn more. I have a seminar then hands on workshop coming up in New Orleans with Mati (can't say his last name) but he's big in the industry and I'm excited. I also take every workshop available at the trade shows. I keep trying to get education everywhere I can. Having kids, I can't up and move somewhere that offers a comprehensive program so I may go to aestitician school. Not sure. Anyway, just wanted to throw that in!
