I have a hard time buying skincare. I own quite a bit of high end skincare products that I've kinda just acquired through gratis or gift samplers etc. I own a Clarisonic Mia 2 and I use it 1-2 times a day with the Clarisonic Refreshing Gel Cleanser. I also use Purity a couple times a week and exfoliate with either the Mario Badescu botanical exfoliating scrub or Dermalogica skin prep scrub. I also use the Vichy 3 in 1 one step cleanser occasionally. After I clean my face I usually moisturize with Hope in a Jar Night or Renewed Hope in a Jar and use the Algenist eye renewal balm or Mario Badescu hyloronic (I know I spelled it way wrong) eye cream. In the mornings I usually use a Bliss Vitamin C serum of some sort and a Neutrogena facial lotion with Spf 35 I believe. I also use Primer Oil by Smashbox or Tarte Maracuja oil sometimes. I have a lot of other miscellaneous skincare products, but those are the main ones I use. I know I should have a more uniform regimen and I know there are probably some other products I should be using. I have naturally oily, acne prone skin and I'm concerned with aging and sagging breasts as well. I bought the Murad clarifying cleanser today and I've been considering buying the It Cosmetics Confidence in a cream. Basically what I want to know is if you were picking products for me to use what would you suggest?

I also am considering Confidence in a Cream. I recently bought some samples off ebay to test the scent, because I heard a lot of bad reviews on the scent. But it doesn't bother me. It's not my favorite scent, but it's not as strong to me as people described it. And it dissipates. As. far as for you, I would would I integrate a retinol product for your face if your Philosophy doesn't already have it in it. Retinols, vitamin c, & spf are the 3 beauty products that are tried & true clinically proven to fight premature aging.

How I'd the oil primer working for your oily skin? I have dry skin and my skin loves it and drinks it up. But I would think it would be too much on oily skin.

I have normal to oily skin (my routine has gotten me from oily to much more normal) and this is my routine:
Morning:
-Garnier SkinActive Micellar Water to cleanse, tone, and refresh the skin
-The Body Shop Vitamin C Moisturizer with SPF 30 to moisturize, protect from sun damage, and fade dark spots/hyper pigmentation
Night:
-The Body Shop Sumptuous Camomile Cleansing Butter to remove makeup
-Origins Clear Improvement Frothy Face Wash on Clarisonic Mia 1 to deeply cleanse the skin
-Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel to gently and effectively exfoliate (used daily)
-No7 Beautiful Skin Toner for Normal/Oily Skin to tone
-The Body Shop Vitamin E Serum-In-Oil to add moisture and hydration to the skin and fade dark spots/hyper pigmentation
-No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream for Normal/Oily Skin to moisturize and hydrate
I highly recommend all of these products, especially for your skin. Oily skin could actually be oily because it's not hydrated and/or moisturized enough so it's trying to over compensate for that by producing oil. Using my Clarisonic daily and adding an oil has greatly improved the oiliness of my skin. The oil, moisturizer with SPF, and exfoliating will also help with signs of aging.

Marleen, I was actually talking to an It Cosmetics rep about it today and she about has me sold on it. And I actually like the scent! She said it has vitamin C, collagen, peptides, hyaluronic (I think I spelled it right this time) acid, antioxidants, and colloidal oatmeal in it so it really helps firm and plump the skin. She also said it reduces redness and pore size. And I learned from a Smashbox rep that oils are actually good for oily skin and that oil cuts oil. I only use a couple drops for my entire face and I really like it. I'm sure there's probably a better oil for skincare than primer oil, but I got it for free so I use it. I'm kinda weary of skincare developed by cosmetic companies. I know It is really good about incorporating skincare into their products, and I love a lot of their products, but I was a little skeptical about buying an actual skincare item from them so I wanted to know others' opinions.
Alexis I use the Garnier micellar water too and I love it!! What retinol products would you ladies recommend starting with?

Also stupid question. what order should you do moisturizers and serums and oils and everything?

Are you using the primer oil as a primer under foundation or for skincare purposes?
Apr 3, 2016
Jamie L.
A little of both. I haven't been brave enough to use it alone as a primer. I always use another primer along with it. Lately I've been loving the Becca ever matte primer and cover fx mattifying primer with acne treatment. I only use the ever matte in my oiliest spots because it sets crazy fast and can get a little too tight to the point that I feel like my foundation could look kinda cracked if that makes sense.

Also confidence in a cream is one of the few facial moisturizers that is safe to use in the eye area. I've heard that It is planning on releasing an eye cream in the future as well.

I usually don't allow myself to get swooped into the hype of the latest thing. But IT has really good products. I didn't like their tightline primer and original mascara. But I like the bronzer, the cc cream, the lip pencil and I'm obsessed with the new SUPERHERO mascara. So, that's why I'm more than likely getting the Confidence and one of the shadow palettes, because they are anti-aging with no talc. And my eyelids aren't getting any younger. Even if the anti aging ingredients aren't effective, and least the shadows won't dry out my lids.

I use the oil primer on its own and even add 1 drop to my foundation. That's how dry I am. Not only does it moisterize my skin, it really does help smooth out the texture of my skin. I don't understand how an oil can do that. It's bizarre.

Yeah I love the CC cream and bye bye under eye is incredible. So is bye bye redness. I once had a client whose skin was fire truck red. I put a little of it under her foundation and you'd never know she had a horrible sunburn on top of naturally red skin. However, I'm not a fan of the eye shadows. They're dry and chalky and not very pigmented in my opinion. The bigger too faced palettes like the chocolate bars and sweet peach have antioxidants that help promote cell turn over, but they do contain talc I believe. Have you tried the UD anti aging eye primer? It's supposed to help hydrate and firm the lids and has a slight tint to help color correct.

Hmmmm, drying huh? I'll have to swatch them. I already have the Chocolate Bar, and was considering the PEACH , but I'll have to see it first. No, I haven't tried that eye primer because I really like the UD limited edition ENIGMA primer. It has coverage like EDEN, to cover my lid darkness. I need the coverage. But I'm thinking about getting a Mac Paint pot in a peachy beige to help cover & brighten. I do like the effectiveness of a peach tint to correct darkness.
Apr 3, 2016
Marleen B.
But the ENIGMA is a little darker than EDEN & matched my medium slightly olive skintone better than EDEN did.

Yeah I really like enigma, but I already own so many primers. Also the sweet peach palette is far prettier in person than it is in pictures. I didn't get to swatch all the shades but out of the ones I did swatch, I wasn't disappointed in any. I feel like I'm always let down a little with one shade in the bigger palettes. I'm absolutely in love with the sweet peach though. And I'm very much a cool tone lover. I will definitely be picking it up next Thursday when it hits shelves at Ulta.
