Looking for a good scrub to replace St.Ives Apricot Scrub

I have been using the St.Ives apricot scrub for years and loved it but I have been doing some research on-line and I found that it's very bad to use as it cuts the skin! :(

So now I'm looking for a new scrub to use on my face. I don't want to spend a lot (preferably not more than $15). What do you recommend?

Thanks x

I agree with Clinique! It may cost more than 15$ but I feel for your face its worth it.

Sally's carries the St. Helens facial scrubs but I'm not sure if they contain the same harsh particles.

Clinique all the way! I have both the 7 day scrub and exfoliating scrub and alternate their use b/c the exfoliating scrub can be too much daily but I love the tingly feeling it leaves. :)

Rebecca that would be great if you cut out the Vaseline. Replace it with something else- castor oil, alba un-petroleum, something that isn't mineral oil/petroleum.

Just a heads up, the Up & Up (Target) brand has this scrub & the scrub beads are man made. They don't have any harsh edges so you wont have any micro cuts on your face. It's worth checking out since it's formulated to be the same as the St Ives one!

Honestly, I have not seen any convincing argument at all that St.Ives damages your skin. Professional microdermabrasion blasts your skin with crystals and basically takes off the entire top layer (2-3 cells deep, at least), and that actually makes you look better. You just can't convince me that a manual method is somehow more harmful than that, regardless of whether or not the beads aren't perfectly circular.

I've used it for years, my mother's used it for years, YOU'VE used it for years...no signs of any issues. I occasionally try out a different scrub, but I always go back to the St. Ives. I've tried the Clinique 7 day scrub, and frankly, I loathe the stuff. It leaves behind this really wacky greasy/oily film and it doesn't feel like it's exfoliating anything.

ok, stephanie, lets break down your argument. microdermabrasion- how often is that done? how often do you use that scrub? oh, so those two answers are NOT the same? that's what i thought.

next- you do what you want but you may not SEE or FEEL issues directly after use but you don't know what's going on in the long term. you don't feel like the clinique is scrubbing your skin, but you don't have to have harsh scrubbing to exfoliate. a clarisonic exfoliates your face and it sure doesn't feel anywhere near as harsh as the st ives scrub.

i actually FELT it cut my face.

im kinda on stephanies side. I think its a really good scrub and it gets the job done. I used it like once a week and moisturized and did all that good stuff after. Its not like your tryna penetrate to the inside of your face or anything. You use it to remove dead skin cells. I dont know about you guys but i live in the now and if i want my face feeling rejuvenated then this is the product im going to use, ill worry about the the long term stuff when i get there plus theres alot of proactive products out there that you can use with it. And Manolita if you like the st. ives scrub then try their green tea one it does a good job as well but its not as harsh as the apricot one, in fact its almost like ashy idk its weird but its alot gentler if thats what your going for. :]

Clinique exfoliating scrub is one of my favorite things ever!

Is this the Clean & Clear one? I used the Clinique exfoliating scrub (not the 7 day one) before switching to St.Ives. It's amazing too- it leaves my face feeling clean and fresh but I find that it's too expensive to be honest. St.Ives' scrub is not even half the price and it's just as good I think...

Jazmyn, it's not that I'm looking for a gentler scrub, I actually like Clinique's and St.Ives' scrub because it actually feels like scrubbing you know? I just don't like the idea that I'm cutting my face while I'm doing that lol. I think I'll look into their green tea version though, thanks :))

I use home made scrub for my body (olive oil and salt) when I run out of my usual body scrub (L'Oreal Paris Exfotonic) and it's great! I don't know if I feel comfortable using one for my face though...

I dont see what the problem is if youve been using it for years and loved it, its not making you bleed or giving terrible scars. I hate anything with man made beads, all they are doing is rolling around your face, they are too smooth to properly exfoliate. Thats just my opinion. I like proper scrubs with rough bits in, you need a bit of friction.
