It's hard if u have short hair but if its longer u can always use a sock or just twist and pin. Buns take practice!!

Sock bun. It's kinda hard to explain but it's pretty awesome. There are tons of YouTube tutorials on creating the sock bun.

^^ Sock buns might be harder for thicker hair, but you can manage :) If you have shirt hair, just either a) fan your hair around the sock/donut thing and tie off around the base or b) wrap your ponytail around and secure.
