I just started Bikram yoga yesterday (104 degree room for an hour & a half) Does sweating that much cause a lot of pimples? any tips for what I should do right after class? Thanks girls 💘😘.

I only think it would if you wore makeup during it, but I'd definitely take a shower once you're finished.

I would definitely take a shower and wash your face afterwards

I wore no makeup hannah! woo thank god , & I live kind of far from the yoga studio, so its hard for me to shower , but there is a bathroom so thanks les! Ill be sure to wash my face afterwards 😘.

As long as you take proper care of your skin during and afterwards (such as not wearing makeup during and immediately washing your face afterwards) then you shouldn't break out. Also don't touch your face.

Thanks alexis! Afterwards , should I Wash my face w my cleanser & moisturize? or just splash some water? Because I already wash my face 2x a day, would it be acceptable?

I use a 5% benzoyl peroxide cleanser btw 😋.

Personally I would use cleanser, I don't think water by itself would be effective at cleansing your face properly.

I would use cleanser too and then splash your face with cold water to close the pores:)

I love the sound of Bikram yoga haha:)

You need to be careful that you're not over washing your face. Purchase a mild cleanser or cleansing wipes for after yoga so that you're not washing it 3 times a day. And yes, of course dot wear makeup as it'll clog your pores as they open up :) I think what I found super useful when I did yoga was to drink a lot of water during and after

Definitely. Sweat is good, but never good for the SKIN as it can clog pores and cause breakouts, I would take a shower as well because it may cause your back/chest to breakout.

I've heard that hot yoga rooms are absolutely filthy/ full of bacteria especially if the mats and everything aren't wiped down after every single session I wouldn't do it because the thought makes me cringe haha but I'd just deffinitly have a good wash afterwards

Thanks girlies! & Charlotte trust me the room STINKS but its a great form of weightloss & I wash my clothes & towel right after & disinfect my mat right after aswell. Overall I'm just a chubby girl trying to lose some weight LOL.

Definitely shower after. Use wipes if you have to. Just a question, were you doing regular yoga before? Because bikram yoga isn't to lose weight like most people think, its for people really into yoga so their muscles stretch more. The heat causes your muscles to expand a bit so you can really get into the poses that requires a bit more length. All your doing is losing water weight and you won't keep it off unless you exercise elsewhere too.

Lol awww charlotte & alyx I've only ever done bikram, but I've heard its good for burning fat. I know one of my friends tried it & made her lose like 20 lbs.

Of water weight, but she probably gained it back quickly. I would try normal yoga first, bikram can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing properly. It's easier to strain and injure yourself. Plus, you wouldn't sweat as much and wouldn't have any issues with it causing acne. A family friend I'm really close with is a bikram yoga teacher, and she's constantly having to tell people that they're not going to lose any weight besides water weight. You'll lose a few pounds quick, but they'll come back in a few days because it's just your body being dehydrated, once you rehydrate, you gain the weight back. And if it's your only yoga practice, its dangerous to your muscles and can cause serious damage in the long run.
