I need to overcome these patches!

Lately my skin had lost its smoothness after applying foundation. I have noticeable patches under my nose and throughout my face and I know I need to hydrate my skin since the mix of rose hip oil and Cetaphil lotion isn't enough. It's so frustrating bc it's those dry patches on my face that make my makeup look unappealing. It's frustrating so I need a mosturizer or anything that will hydrate my oily skin.
Any recommendations?
I've tried Cerave but didn't like it bc it didn't cater to oily skin gals but only to normal to dry skin chicks. I want something that won't break me out and oil-free! Thanks babes  (:

Hmm are you exfoliating at all?
If you have dry patches you need to get them gone in order for any moisturizer to penetrate through otherwise they are just blocking it.

I'm a big fan of Manuka honey... pricey but soo worth it. I leave it on 15-20 minutes with steam (Honey is a humectant.. air moisture needed ) and then my method of removal is to exfoliate it off with Jojoba beads. I usually apply my toner while my skin is still wet and follow the same order my esthetician uses on my skin.. Rosehip Oil first moisturizer last ( Has worked the best for me. ).

I do exfoliate every other day or every 3 days depending on how much makeup I've used and the buildup on my skin x:

So true /:.I just feel like the Body Shop Tea scrub isn't helping the patches much.

Where can I purchase the Manuka honey?0:
Jojoba beads are sold separately too?

And I shall begin using tge oil first then mosturize with the mosturizer. Should I continue using the Cetaphil mosturizer?

I have really oily skin with dry patches and I've started using coconut oil on my face at night and my dry patches have gone and my skin is less oily :)

Thanks Lauren (:
I shall spot test it since I have acne prone skin and well it can cause your skin to react negatively aha
But thanks! (:

So I know you said oil free but bear with me here for a moment. I also have combo skin, oily t zone and dry cheeks/chin. I just recently started using Tarte's Maracuja oil every night after cleansing with Cetaphil and it has changed my world! My t zone skin has turned into mostly "normal" non oily skin and my dry patches are disappearing too. It is a little pricey at $46 a bottle but it will be on special @ Ulta (on April 2nd & only a one day deal) for $25. A little goes a very long way and the bottle will last for quite a while. I also use it on my hands and cuticles and it makes them so soft and smooth.

Oh and you should get a sample of the Maracuja oil from Sephora to see if you like it and if it will work for you before buying it. :)

Manuka honey can be found at Whole foods or any other health store and jojoba beads can be bought in bulk.

Question, what foundation /primer are you using? Most gals don't seem to believe that make up can ruin your skin, but depending on what ingredients it contains it can suck the moisture out (and even cause some long term damage ).

Will check it out Traci (:. Thanks!

Thanks Kitty :)
I am using the LA Base Pro primer which is oil free and the Lancome 24h Idole Teint foundation which is also oil free and high in Octinoxate

I've been using the Elizabeth Arden 5th avenue moisturising body lotion lately (I know it says body but it's super lightweight) and I'm loving it, whenever I notice my dry specks are ruining my makeup I'll up my skincare routine and start moisturising twice daily, this stuff is good though cause it's super light weight on the skin, dries quickly but without any gross sticky feeling like some moisturisers can give and it leaves my face so smooth.

I will search it right now^.^
I love fast absorbing mosturizers! Do you also apply before your primer and/or foundation? 0:

Yeah I have been lately cause my only dry problem spot is my nose and gosh it's the most annoying thing when it's at it's worst exfoliating and then using heavy moisturisers lol I much prefer the Elizabeth Arden stuff, so light and also good for under makeup :)

The only moisturizer I've found that truly smoothes over dry patches is the Garnier Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel Cream. I use this after I use a thicker, skin rejuvenating moisturizer, like the Lancome Renergie Lift Face Cream, but before I put on makeup of course :) It just makes your makeup appear a lot more natural and really hydrates your skin as well. Hope this helps!

I have acne prone skin too and my skin has been much better since I've started doing it :) but everyone's skin is different so I agree that you should spot test :)
