Do you straighten your hair slowly? I do two passes over the roots of my hair then pull it down really slowly so I only have to go over the strand on hair once. You could also try blow drying it straight then straightening it.

It helps to use a heat protection spray before straightening to take any frizz and curl out

When I'm using flat iron I go over my hair once then brush my hair like I'm doing while it's warm. I found this helps, I hope I make sense.

I have curly hair as well. I like to use any anti-frizz product, and it helps my hair look a bit better. You could also try hairspray.

Sounds like you live in a place that is very humid.
